One of the common signs of hearing loss is mishearing certain words.

I can't imagine what other mistakes he has made that could put his life in danger 😬.

Other signs that are usually noticed by people around the patient are:
1) asking people to repeat themselves or speak louder
2) watching TV or listening to the radio at high volume
3) struggling to keep up with a conversation 4) you're also going to have to call their name a several times before they can hear you
5) struggling to hear on the phone
6) watching the speaker's mouth to lipread
7) ringing sounds in their ears

Our majesty King Letsie III just hit the age at which most people start to show signs of age related hearing loss. At his age, annual hearing checks are recommended to detect loss of hearing ability as early as possible and provide appropriate intervention. The earlier the better the treatment outcomes.

You can lose your hearing and not be aware of it until it starts to affect communication. And that's around a 40 decibel deviation from normal hearing ability as measured scientifically. This is especially true for causes of hearing loss such as noise exposure and aging that result in gradual loss of hearing ability. It can take up to 5 years for someone who has lost their hearing this way to seek medical help. This is after overcoming a phase of being in denial. And this, my friends, is why we recommend routine hearing checks.

Please remember to practice safe listening habits:

2. Limit your virtual meetings to an hour followed by a quiet break.
3. Rather listen through the loudspeaker or use supra-aural headphones 🎧.
4. Minimise background so you won't have to increase your volume.
5. Also you can use written communication instead.
