RIVER OF ASHES
Some journeys home do not lead around grief. They lead through it.
I wrote “River of Ashes” from the place where healing no longer means turning away from what has been lived. The river does not erase the past. It carries what can no longer remain fixed, allowing fear, silence, and accumulated grief to loosen their hold.
As the song unfolds, being lost gives way to being seen—and something living begins to emerge beneath the ashes.
“River of ashes, carry me home
I was lost in the night
Now I’m open and known.”
