Yesterday was a good day for Luxembourg’s business community.

Paperjam Club - ’s largest business network, bringing together 25,000 professionals across 1,800 member companies at 160+ events every season - officially joined the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower 🌻 programme.

Here’s what that means in practice:

Sunflower lanyards will be available at every Paperjam Club event - free, no questions asked. Anyone wearing one is simply saying: “I may need a little extra time, patience or support.”

No proof needed.

Why does this matter?

1 in 6 people have a disability. Up to 80% of those are non-visible - meaning you can’t see them. Think: chronic pain, autism, anxiety, ADHD, hearing loss, epilepsy, Crohn’s disease, PTSD, diabetes... conditions that are real, often exhausting and almost always invisible to others.

Non.

See the Sunflower? Here’s how to show support.

1. Be patient, the person may need extra time
2. Offer help, but don’t assume, just simply ask “How how can I help you”.
3. Be kind, small acts of understanding mean so much
4. Never ask them why they are wearing the Sunflower

Together, we can make the world more welcoming for people with non-visible disabilities.

Kenns du eis Sonneblumm-Geschicht?

D’Sonneblumm vun de verstoppte Behënnerunge gouf gewielt, well d’Sonneblumm e weltwäit unerkannt a frëndlecht Symbol ass, dat fir Gléck, Positivitéit, Stäerkt, Wuesstem a Selbstvertraue steet.

Si ass diskret an awer gutt sichtbar: Hir hellgiel Faarf an hir markant Form maachen et einfach, si och aus Distanz z’erkennen, a si hëlleft de Leit, erkannt ze ginn, ouni hir Behënnerung mussen haart auszespriechen.

• Diskret mee sichtbar: subtil, mee kloer genuch fir ze weisen, datt eventuell zousätzlech Ënnerstëtzung gebraucht gëtt
• Positiv a berouegend: Sonneblumme vermëttelen Wäermt a Versteesdemech
• Weltwäit unerkannt: Eng Sonneblumm bedeit iwwerall op der Welt eppes Positives
Ouni e kloert visuellt Zeechen ass et dacks schwéier, déi deeglech Barrièren ze verstoen, mat deene Leit mat enger net-siichtbarer Behënnerung konfrontéiert sinn. D’Sonneblumm hëlleft, dës Lück ze iwwerbrécken – mat just engem klenge Symbol.

Not all disabilities are visible.

Globally, 1 in 6 people (that’s over 1.3 billion) live with a disability, and up to 80% of those have a non-visible disability, meaning it’s not immediately apparent to you. This includes conditions like chronic pain, autism, anxiety, ADHD, diabetes, Crohn’s, and more.

03/12/2025

International Day of Persons with Disabilities, a global awareness day, is designed to drive positive change. Encouraging considered thought and actionable objectives, not only for disabled people, but by disabled people.

Improving the entire spectrum of society, from political, social, economic, and cultural life.
Not only do leadership roles held by disabled people enforce an inclusive approach, but they also demonstrate strong, positive role modelling for sustainable social progress as increased job roles become accessible.

As a society, we need to start looking around us, noticing where improvements are required, and add our voices to the movement; that is where allyship becomes critical.

Share your thoughts in the comments and start the conversation today. 🌻

The Sunflower gives confidence to wearers that they will be acknowledged and won’t be judged. Learn more by following our link in bio.
