👁️💊 A pill instead of injections into the eye?!

It sounds almost too good to be true, but scientists are investigating exactly that. 🔬

A small study of the experimental drug danegaptide showed encouraging early results in diabetic retinopathy — including possible reductions in retinal leakage and swelling.

⚠️ It’s still very early, and much larger studies are needed. But imagine a future where protecting your vision could mean taking a pill instead of repeated injections into the eye. 👁️❤️

🔥 MiniMed is entering the patch pump world!

MiniMed Fit — MiniMed’s first tubeless insulin pump — has officially been submitted to the FDA for approval.

It holds up to 300 units of insulin and combines a reusable, rechargeable “brain” with a disposable patch component.

If everything goes according to plan, a U.S. launch is expected in summer 2027. 🇺🇸

Competition in the patch pump market is heating up — and hopefully, people with diabetes will be the biggest winners. 💙

👁️ Mild Retinopathy Can Improve With Steadier Glucose Levels!

Diabetic retinopathy is a common eye complication of type 1 diabetes, but how mild retinopathy changes over time with modern diabetes care, including technology such as CGM, hasn’t been clear 🧐.

In a study of 113 adults with type 1 diabetes and mild retinopathy, more than half had no visible signs after five years. Those participants had lower A1C levels during follow-ups than those whose retinopathy remained stable or progressed 😀

💡WHY IT MATTERS

If you've been diagnosed with mild diabetic retinopathy, it doesn't mean the condition will steadily get worse over time. The possibility that mild retinopathy may improve or reverse reinforces the importance of managing glucose through regular diabetes care, using tools such as CGM, and receiving regular eye exams based on a personalized schedule with a provider.

“My son almost died because of a Sprite.” 🥤

Not because of drugs, violence or some rare disease.

Because of a soda. 🚨 🥤

That sentence sounds absurd until you understand what life with Type 1 diabetes actually looks like. One wrong dose. One unexpected blood sugar crash. 📉 One moment where a normal drink becomes the difference between life and death. ⚠️

This story is terrifying because it’s real. It exposes the part of diabetes people rarely see — the exhaustion, the fear, the sleepless nights, the constant calculations, and how quickly things can spiral out of control even for experienced parents. 💔

Most people think diabetes is simply “watching sugar.” They have no idea how dangerous severe hypoglycemia can become within minutes. 🚑

Every parent should read this. Every person who thinks diabetes is “not that serious” should read this too. 🙏
