When women start experiencing symptoms, they're often told:

"Your hormones are too high."

But once again, the next question should be...

Why?

Hormones don't just randomly become elevated.

The body is always responding to something.

Stress, insulin resistance, poor detoxification pathways, inflammation, blood sugar imbalances, nutrient deficiencies, certain medications, environmental exposures, and even the hormonal fluctuations of perimenopause can all contribute to hormones becoming out of balance.

For example, higher levels of oestrogen relative to progesterone can leave women feeling:

• bloated
• emotional
• anxious
• tender-breasted
• heavy periods
• headaches or migraines
• increased PMS symptoms
• weight gain around the hips and abdomen

But simply knowing a hormone is "high" doesn't tell us the whole story.

The real question is:

What is driving that imbalance?

Because hormones are messengers.

They're constantly responding to the environment we create through our nutrition, stress levels, sleep, movement, recovery, and overall health.

The symptoms aren't your body betraying you.

They're information.

They're clues that something may need support.

The goal isn't to fear your hormones.

The goal is to understand them.

When women start experiencing symptoms, they're often told:

"Your hormones are low."

But the next question should be...

Why?

Hormones don't exist in isolation.

Stress, poor sleep, nutrient deficiencies, blood sugar imbalances, chronic dieting, under-eating, inflammation, gut health, and the natural transition into perimenopause can all influence how your hormones are produced, metabolised, and communicated throughout the body.

Sometimes the issue isn't simply that hormones are low.

It's that the body no longer has the resources, safety, or support it needs to function optimally.

This is why chasing symptoms without understanding the root causes can leave women feeling frustrated and confused.

Your body is always communicating.

The fatigue.
The cravings.
The brain fog.
The stubborn weight gain.

It happens gradually.

You start feeling more tired than usual.

So before you start cutting calories or blaming yourself for not being "good enough"...

Ask yourself:

How stressed am I right now?

Because sometimes the most powerful thing you can do for your hormones isn't eating less.

It's helping your body feel safe.

Some simple ways to start lowering your stress load today:

✨ Eat breakfast instead of running on caffeine.
✨ Take 5 slow, deep breaths before meals.
✨ Get outside for 10 minutes of natural daylight.
✨ Put your phone away 30 minutes before bed.
✨ Listen to calming music while cooking or driving.
✨ Stretch for 5 minutes before sleep.
✨ Say no to one thing that isn't essential this week.
✨ Sit down and eat without multitasking.
✨ Prioritise protein with your meals to support blood sugar balance.
✨ Ask for help instead of carrying everything yourself.

None of these are complicated.

But they all send the same message to your body:

"You are safe."

Your body isn't fighting you.

It's responding to the signals it's receiving.
