On the 2nd of October, ACTIVATE will be hosting it's final conference, named:

The "ACTIVATE Advocacy Showcase: Unveiling the Power of Youth Autistic Voices" conference.

Join us as we salute the project and recount the great journey that ACTIVATE has been!

The conference will bring together participants to reflect on the achievements and outcomes of the ACTIVATE project and explore future opportunities for disability advocacy and inclusion. The work on the ACTIVATE project has been led by autistic youths, the material developed will be shared with participants attending the conference.

📢 We are proud to announce that the project E.A.S.E. (Easy, Accessible, Simple and Effective) has been shortlisted for two awards at the European Social Services Awards 2026!

E.A.S.E. has been shortlisted for:

🏆 Disability and Accessibility in Social Services Award
🏆 Headline Jury Award for Social Inclusion

E.A.S.E. was developed to promote the use of Easy Language and help make information clearer and more accessible for everyone.

Bringing together partners and expertise from different European countries, the project developed practical guidelines and certified training modules for producing high-quality Easy Language information. Importantly, persons with disabilities were actively involved in the process, helping to ensure that the materials developed reflected the needs of the people who would ultimately use them.

Through training, collaboration and the promotion of Easy Language, E.A.S.E. aims to empower persons with disabilities to access and understand information, make informed decisions, live more independently and participate fully in their communities. 💙

Being shortlisted for the European Social Services Awards 2026 is an important recognition of the work carried out through E.A.S.E. and, more broadly, of the importance of accessible information as an essential part of inclusion and accessibility.

| Blue Badge Enforcement

From CRPD’s 2025 Annual Report:

In 2025, CRPD’s Enforcement Unit recovered 1,602 expired or illegally used Blue Badges and confiscated 72 counterfeit badges.

This work helps address Blue Badge misuse and ensure that the scheme continues to serve persons with disability.

The Enforcement Unit forms part of CRPD’s regulatory role in safeguarding the rights of persons with disability.

From CRPD’s 2025 Annual Report:

Over 32,000 people in Malta and Gozo are registered as persons with disability – a significant increase compared with 2024.

The rising numbers may reflect greater awareness of disability rights, while also highlighting the need for a more accessible and inclusive society for all.'

CRPD is Malta and Gozo’s national equality body for the disability sector.

The recording is now available!

The webinar explored autistic advocacy and self-advocacy, with a focus on self-representation, empowerment, inclusion and the rights of autistic people.

It also shared practical perspectives on how autistic people can be supported to advocate for their rights, needs and interests.

The webinar formed part of ACTIVATE, an Erasmus+ project that develops accessible learning resources and tools to empower autistic people across Europe.

🎥 Fourth and final speaker: Christine Abdilla, Women with Disabilities Committee Member, on the importance of the Committee.

Earlier this year, CRPD launched the Women with Disabilities Committee to provide a platform for women with disabilities to share experiences, and strengthen advocacy, inclusion and equality.

CRPD would like to thank the European Disability Forum for funding towards this project.
