🍃 Do you often feel like you're stuck in a survival mode state? Holding your breath a lot, shoulders & neck tense, tight belly.. feeling anxious or not fully able to just settle, switch off, rest..

Survival mode can show up in a lot of different ways. We may have done a lot of work already & yet still find ourselves entering this state or feeling these things!

Healing isn't about never entering survival mode again.

It's often more about recognising it sooner in our bodies...
meeting it with kindness & compassion...
and having the right tool-kit to know how to get out of it

✨ Did you know?

Your lymphatic system flows through your fascial network.

When fascia is healthy and hydrated, fluids move more freely, supporting your immunity, mobility, and also your nervous system regulation.

When your fascia becomes tight & restricted, fluidity & flow can become less efficient, contributing to feelings of stiffness, heaviness, and tension in your body ~ & also mind!

✨ Healthy fascia = Better flow = Greater ease in body and mind.

LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE MASSAGE @ 🍃The Body Sanctuary🍃 Gozo

Can a stressed nervous system affect the lymphatic system?

🍃🌷🍃

Yes, very likely

The nervous system and immune system are in constant communication.

When someone experiences chronic stress, prolonged survival-mode activation, or ongoing sympathetic arousal, several things happen:

🍃Blood vessels constrict

Stress hormones can alter circulation and microcirculation.

Since the lymphatic system partly depends on fluid movement between tissues and blood vessels, changes in circulation can influence lymph flow.

🍃 Inflammation can increase

Chronic stress is associated with elevated inflammatory signaling.

Researchers have found links between long-term psychological stress and:

• Increased inflammatory cytokines
• Altered immune function
• Slower healing

Because the lymphatic system helps regulate immune activity and fluid balance, increased inflammation can create additional burden on lymphatic function.

🍃 Reduced movement

People under chronic stress often:

• Breathe more shallowly
• Move less
• Hold muscular tension

All of these can reduce some of the natural pumping mechanisms that support lymph flow.

The lymphatic system doesn’t have a central pump like the heart. It relies heavily on:

• Breathing
• Muscle contractions
• Body movement
• Internal vessel contractions

When those mechanisms are compromised, lymphatic circulation may become less efficient.

The fascinating link between lymphatics and inflammation

One of the lymphatic system’s major jobs is to:
• Remove excess tissue fluid
• Transport immune cells
• Clear cellular waste products
• Help regulate inflammatory responses

If lymphatic transport is impaired, inflammatory molecules can accumulate in tissues.

Conversely, excessive inflammation can also impair lymphatic function.

It’s a two-way relationship.

This is one reason researchers increasingly view the lymphatic system as a key regulator of immune health rather than merely a “drainage” system.

What about trauma, survival mode, and chronic nervous system activation?

This is where practitioners often see patterns clinically, though research is still catching up.

Someone living in chronic sympathetic activation may show:

• Muscle guarding
• Restricted breathing
• Elevated inflammatory markers
• Sleep disruption
• Reduced recovery capacity

All of those factors can potentially influence fluid movement and tissue health.

Gentle lymphatic massage sessions may therefore provide two simultaneous effects:

1. Mechanical support for lymphatic movement.
2. A strong signal of safety and regulation to the nervous system.

Many clients report feeling emotionally lighter, calmer, ‘soothed’ & more grounded afterward.

Honestly i always say, i must be doing something right as 99% of my clients are just Amazing people! 💓

The interesting part ~ & myb Gods hand at work ~ is she sent me this screenshot that she wrote to her Aunt who lives here in Gozo.
And the Aunts surname name is “ Tabone” - the same name as the family who have my beloved lil catso 🐱
( who currently won’t let me see catso) but ofc - i am praying that this will & is going to change! ⭐ ✨ ✨

Love this 🥰 so true. And a very big part of the success of Somatic healing work, especially when combined with other modalities like IFS - that opens real diologue with the interior of our bodies.

I believe communication is a two way *relationship, like any other. Not only words of affirmation. And that this is where the magic is ☺️

I knew a few years ago that 'Somatic Therapy' would burst into the limelight and become a buzz word. ☺️ It is doing just that, & more and more people are now hearing about it.

But as it does, a lot of confusion around what exactly it is, arises.

What it can help with? Why you should do it?
Is it another form of energy healing? A new-age practice?
Is it just like meditation. Theta healing?

I've been asked if it is similar to 'energy healing' by a number of prospective clients ~ so I thought this may be useful

‘WOUNDS OF LOVE’ - I call them

Those strongholds & early beliefs we formed as a result of our, often very early, painful experiences with others - (who also have their ‘wounds of Love’,). that then cause a chain of patterns & behaviours & imprints in us.

In our nervous systems. In our emotions. In our perceptions of life & others & the world. In our bodies. In our relationship patterns. In the ways our lives unfold, or fail to unfold.

Whenever i do deep somatic coaching work with people we are often going back to this inner-child core wounds, where we can do some deep tender reperation work.

Then with new insights, we can clear the past & form beliefs that better support us, the US & the lives we were always supposed to live.

My work of late is guided by the holy spirit, as there is a bigger Love, that heals all ‘wounds of Love’ & is capable of restoring our original nature 😊

I wil talk more about this at some point.

For now just sharing this video that gives more insights into how these wounds in us are created.

Blessed are we, the ones wanting to be healed at core levels, & come home to ourselves. 😊❤️🙏🍃
