Founded in 1969 by Mr Ray Calleja producing the original Rice-Based Snack Twistees Cheese and Tastees Bacon.

Twistees, Malta’s iconic branded snack produced from the original factory in Marsa at Jetties Warf and established by Ray Calleja over 40 years ago. With Darrell Lee Foods who manufactured Malta’s favourite nibbles Twistees and today, offering the household named brand snack in a variety of flavours. The initial attraction and uniqueness of Twistees was that it was one of the first snacks to be ba

ked not fried. Keeping with tradition of healthy snack production, Twistees was the first in Malta to adhere to the strict government and EU regulations for healthy eating with Twistees Lite using only the finest healthy ingredients. Now the reins of the company are being held by the Third generation, who continue to grow the brand to an international market of new adoring fans with innovative new marketing idea to adapt to ever changing markets and tastes. As with all success stories diversification ensued after the original Twistees, with the introduction and manufacture of the original Twistees with Twistees Lite and Tastees. Twistees are featured on Facebook where loyal and newly adopted supporters can follow the Twistees progression and contend in the regular competitions. Facebook advertising has increased the awareness of this iconic Maltese snack to emerge as a new favourite, particularly within the Middle East.
