😴 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗠𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗗𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗦𝗹𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗗𝗼 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱?

Most adults need 1–2 hours of deep sleep every night.

Deep sleep is when your body repairs muscles, strengthens the immune system, balances hormones, and helps the brain recover from the day.

If you're waking up tired, struggling with pain, low energy, poor concentration, or feeling unrefreshed despite spending enough time in bed, you may not be getting enough deep sleep.

At The Pain Clinic, we recommend the use of wearable devices such as smart rings to help identify sleep problems and improve recovery.

💤 Remember: it's not just about how long you sleep—it's about the quality of your sleep.

😴 What happens in the brain when you take medical cannabis for sleep?

A new study found that a single dose of THC and CBD changed brain-wave activity during sleep and reduced REM sleep (the dreaming stage), without impairing attention or cognitive performance the next day. 🌿

The findings suggest that medical cannabis doesn't just help people fall asleep—it may actually change how the brain sleeps.

Hekk kif jasal fi tmiemu x-Xahar ta’ Għarfien dwar il-Fibromyalgia, hemm messaġġ wieħed li rridu nenfasizzaw:

M’hemmx trattament wieħed li jaħdem għal kull pazjent bil-fibromyalgia.

Il-fibromyalgia hija kundizzjoni kumplessa li tista’ tinvolvi żbilanċi differenti fin-neurotransmitters, problemi tal-irqad, stress, problemi fil-musrana, infjammazzjoni u anke sbilanċ tas-sistema endocannabinoid. Għalhekk it-trattament għandu jkun personalizzat.

Xi pazjenti jibbenefikaw minn supplements, oħrajn minn mediċini, titjib tal-irqad, eżerċizzju, bidliet fid-dieta jew terapiji bbażati fuq kannabinoidi.

F’dan l-aħħar reel tas-serje tagħna għal Xahar ta’ Għarfien dwar il-Fibromyalgia, nispjegaw għaliex li nifhmu il-kawża tas-sintomi huwa importanti biex niksbu riżultati aħjar.

As Fibromyalgia Awareness Month comes to an end, one message stands above all others:

There is no single treatment that works for every fibromyalgia patient.

Fibromyalgia is a complex condition that may involve different neurotransmitter imbalances, sleep problems, stress, gut issues, inflammation and endocannabinoid dysfunction. This is why treatment needs to be personalised.

Some patients benefit from supplements, others from medications, sleep optimisation, exercise, nutritional changes or cannabinoid-based therapies.

In this final reel of our Fibromyalgia Awareness Month series, we explain why understanding the individual patient is the key to achieving better outcomes.

The Society of Cannabis Clinicians is pleased to share a new article examining the updated American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) guidance on cannabis use during pregnancy and lactation.
Cannabis Use in Pregnancy – Context, Evidence, and Clinical Reality was authored by Felecia Dawson, MD, ABOG and SCC President Genester Wilson-King, MD, FACOG, with editing by SCC Board Member Jahan Marcu, PhD.

The piece explores the historical, scientific, and clinical context surrounding cannabis use during pregnancy, including the limitations of the current evidence base, the importance of the endocannabinoid system, distinctions between product types and routes of administration, and the need for more practical harm-reduction guidance for clinicians and patients alike.

Kont taf li f’xi pazjenti bil-fibromyalgia, il-problema tista’ tibda mill-musrana?

Il-musrana u l-moħħ huma marbuta ħafna ma’ xulxin, u problemi bħal “leaky gut”, żbilanċ fil-microbiome u stress kroniku jistgħu jaffettwaw il-fjammazzjoni, in-neurotransmitters, is-sensittività għall-uġigħ u anke l-irqad.

Ħafna pazjenti bil-fibromyalgia jbatu wkoll minn IBS, nefħa fl-istonku, sensittività għal ċertu ikel u ansjetà — u dan juri kemm hija importanti r-rabta bejn il-musrana u l-moħħ.

F’dan ir-reel nitkellmu dwar għaliex il-fejqan tal-musrana jista’ jkun parti importanti mill-kura tal-fibromyalgia, kif gut health testing jista’ jgħin biex jidentifika żbilanċi, u r-riċerka interessanti li qed issir fuq il-microbiome fil-kundizzjonijiet ta’ uġigħ kroniku.

Did you know that in some fibromyalgia patients, the root problem may actually begin in the gut?

The gut and the brain are deeply connected, and problems such as leaky gut, microbiome imbalance and chronic stress may influence inflammation, neurotransmitters, pain sensitivity and even sleep.

Many fibromyalgia patients also struggle with IBS, bloating, food sensitivities and anxiety — highlighting the importance of the gut-brain connection.

In this reel, we discuss why healing the gut may be an important part of fibromyalgia management, how gut health testing can help identify imbalances, and the exciting research being done on the microbiome in chronic pain conditions.

Kont taf li rqad ħażin jista’ jżid ħafna l-uġigħ tal-fibromyalgia l-għada?

Ħafna pazjenti bil-fibromyalgia jbatu minn rqad ħafif li ma jserraħx u nuqqas ta’ deep sleep — u dan iħalli s-sistema nervuża fi stat kontinwu ta’ għeja u sensittività żejda.

F’dan ir-reel nitkellmu dwar kemm huwa importanti li ntejbu l-kwalità tal-irqad, kif nużaw smart rings fil-Pain Clinic biex nimmonitorjaw l-irqad, u xi supplements li nużaw bħal glycine, CBN u strateġiji naturali oħra biex ngħinu rqad aktar mistrieħ.

It-titjib tal-irqad ħafna drabi huwa wieħed mill-aktar passi importanti biex jitjiebu s-sintomi tal-fibromyalgia.

Did you know that poor sleep can significantly increase fibromyalgia pain the next day?

Many fibromyalgia patients struggle with light, unrefreshing sleep and very little deep sleep — leaving the nervous system in a constant state of exhaustion and hypersensitivity.

In this reel, we discuss the importance of improving sleep quality, how we use smart rings at The Pain Clinic to monitor sleep, and some of the approaches we use including glycine, CBN and other natural sleep-supporting strategies.

Improving sleep is often one of the most important steps in improving fibromyalgia symptoms.

In this video, Helga - who has been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and ADHD - explains how disabling brain fog can be, making it difficult to focus, complete tasks and sleep properly.

A dopamine imbalance may contribute to symptoms such as brain fog, ADHD symptoms, poor concentration and difficulty sleeping. Since starting medical cannabis, Helga noticed significant improvements in focus, productivity and sleep quality.

𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗺𝗶𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗿𝘀? 🤔

A new long-term study found that patients using medical cannabis reported sustained improvements in migraine symptoms, sleep, anxiety and overall quality of life.

At The Pain Clinic, we are seeing similar feedback from some patients struggling with chronic migraines who have not responded well to conventional treatments alone.
