‘The only constant is change’
I love this quote. Because it is so true. I used to focus a lot on handstand and calisthenics training to support my yoga asana practice. I went into the sea through the years as often as possible (when tides and waves allowed). And then… things changed.

But yesterday I went into the sea. Had a lovely dip - and it was warm. On the way back I stopped at the calisthenics park for a quick handstand. Seriously I can’t remember when I last kicked up but it’s months. And it took a few tries.

I love the sea. I love having access to this outdoor gym. I loved when I did the more intense training and handstands. And it was wonderful to feel that again.

I also know that things have changed. Life, my body, my circumstances. And so my practice and what I need in my practice and what I have capacity (in time, and energy) has changed. And that is ok too.

Having a special needs dog like who need 24 hour attention. He has complex needs with hydrocephalus and frequent seizures so can’t be left on his own.

He is an amazing teacher though. Of change. Of being present. Taking an extra breath especially when he is reactive or when he has a seizure or postictal (or simply the ongoing never ending dog training). And a lot of my practice is dog walks in nature. Watching the trees, plants and flowers change - because ‘the only constant is change’.

Yoga is such a support. You can join me on my online membership. Or if you are a dog parent you might want to explore the Dog Parent course (even if you are a complete beginner of yoga). Because that course was created with all of this in mind.

Āyurveda and yoga are not two separate things.

They share the same philosophical root - Sāṃkhya. The same understanding of the five elements (pañcamahābhūtas) as the fabric of everything, including us - and Nature. We are not separate from Nature. We are seasonal too, we know the time of day is felt in the nervous system, that how we move and breathe. That rest is not self-care but a practice.

This is not about poses. It’s not about oil massage or supplements.

It’s a philosophy of life. A way of seeing and being. A framework for navigating the internal and external environment with intelligence, awareness, and depth.

That is what Āyurveda: The Sister Science of Yoga Online Course is.

We start tomorrow — Tuesday 26th May, 5:30pm. Six consecutive Tuesday evenings, all online, all recorded.

If you have been waiting to go beyond the stretching, beyond the relaxation, into the actual practice on the Path — this is that.

I’ve got a whole list of FAVOURITE and recommendations in my bio - including a few discounts 😉
I am a huge fan of oils. I absolutely love abhyanga, or oil massage. This includes self massage.

In āyurveda is nourishes the tissues. Oil is nourishing. It’s like nectar… rejuvenating. It’s perfect for Vata which can be dry, rough - and ungrounded.

This one has rose and other cooling and soothing herbs such as aloe vera and Amla which are all excellent for excess heat or pitta. Whether it’s because it’s summer and hot (and pitta accumulates) or due to excess heat during the premenstrual phase or hot flushes in perimenopause.

Speaking of female health I am also taking Shatavari. Which in āyurveda is often seen as the go-to for female and menstrual health - as well as perimenopause.

Obviously all depending on symptoms, constitution (prakruti) and current situation (vikruti).

These are all from .ayurveda a UK based traditional āyurvedic company - highly recommended (get a discount using the link in my Favourite list)

Good morning and happy new moon - new lunar cycle begins,

This morning I’ll be teaching a Slow Soothing Sunday Yoga Session at 10 am for the Online membership (you have instant access if you join now).

I asked the members what they needed (usual timetable is Wednesdays at 6pm and Saturdays at 9am). And I had an overwhelming response: a relaxing slow class.

So that’s what they’ll get. And it’s perfect timing in many ways. It is the new moon. A great time for inner contemplation, of planting seeds, slow rejuvenation, new beginnings - yet we are still in the very dark time of the moon phase. And its the perfect time to prepare and tend to the soil where we plant these seeds or even contemplate and meditate on what might evolve...

Moving slowly and finding ease gives us that space.

In fast-paced times where doing, achieving and being busy (very pitta and Type A qualities) are celebrated, it can be easy to get carried away - and to burn out.

When there are worries, instability and change in the World and our personal lives (very Vata), it’s easy to feel ungrounded and anxious.

So we need slow, steady groundedness (like Kapha dosha). A time to be more still and let our minds (and bodies) have a bit of a rest.

I see this through an ayurvedic lens. But as you can see, this is pretty intuitive, and we learn it with experience and awareness. For me, Ayurveda has the language, principles and foundations to understand life and myself better. It is the sister science of yoga. They have the same roots... And that is how I teach the yoga classes too. From the ayurvedic perspective.

So I share a few principles like this in our newsletter and classes. But I would love for you to understand it better for your own yoga practice and life - and if you teach yoga too.

That’s what Ayurveda: The Sister Science of Yoga online course is all about. We start the course on Tuesday 26th May. Running for 6 Tuesdays between 5:30 - 7pm with all session recorded so you can watch anytime if you can’t make it live on zoom.

Before Ayurveda talks about doshas, it talks about elements.

Earth. Water. Fire. Air. Space.

Not as abstract philosophy — but as qualities you can actually feel. In a pose. In the breath. In the energy of a room at the start of class versus the end.

Swipe through and notice which element you’re most drawn to right now 👉

This is Session 2 of Ayurveda: The Sister Science of Yoga — my six-week online course for yoga teachers and practitioners, starting 26th May.

Every class has all three. Every student carries all doshas, or five elements - in different proportions.

Ayurveda calls these the doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. And once you can see them: in your students, in the season, in the room… your teaching changes.

Swipe to meet the three patterns you already know, even if you’ve never had a name for them 👉

“I know yoga works… but I’m not always sure why.”

You learned about alignment and technique.

You have books listing benefits of each pose. But you don’t know WHY!

And that uncertainty can show up in subtle ways:
in how we sequence
how we theme classes
how we respond to the people in the room

This is exactly where Ayurveda becomes so valuable.
Not as something separate or additional,
but as a framework that helps you understand yoga more clearly.

It gives language to what you’re already sensing. It helps you see patterns
in students, in seasons, in energy.

And it allows you to teach and practise with much more confidence and clarity.

I’m opening the second round of my online course:
🐚 Ayurveda: The Sister Science of Yoga
A 6-week course designed for yoga teachers and dedicated practitioners who want to go deeper than technique.
Inside, you’ll gain:
– a clear framework for why yoga works
– the ability to recognise patterns in people and practice
– language to communicate yoga intelligently and accessibly
– confidence teaching mixed groups in the real world

🗓 Starts Tuesday 26th May (5:30–7pm)
🎥 All sessions recorded
💫 Early bird £147 until 10th May (code: AYUR2026)

You can read more and join via the website or DM

If you’ve been feeling that pull towards deeper understanding, this is a really supportive place to explore it.
