Mashujaa Day honours the men and women whose courage and sacrifice shaped Kenya’s journey to independence and nationhood.

At Response-Med, that spirit of service resonates with what we see every day — the first responders, site medics, and emergency teams who show up for others, often in the most demanding conditions. Heroism isn’t always historic; sometimes it’s showing up for the next shift.

Our team recently traveled to Addis Ababa to conduct a site audit at the Bethesda American Centre, part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining the highest standards of medical readiness and occupational health across our operations.

Audits like this one allow us to assess site infrastructure, review emergency preparedness, and ensure our clients’ teams have access to reliable, high-quality medical support wherever they operate.

Grateful for the collaboration with our partners in Ethiopia, and looking forward to continuing to strengthen our presence across the region. 🩺

🌳 Mazingira Day | 10 October

Kenya marked Mazingira Day on Saturday — a national call to protect the environment we all depend on.

For Response-Med, environmental responsibility goes hand in hand with health and safety. The sites we support — from geothermal projects to conservancies — sit within ecosystems that need the same care we bring to the people working in them.

We join the call for conservation, reforestation, and sustainable practice across the region.

🧠 World Mental Health Day | Tomorrow, 10 October

Mental health is occupational health. On remote sites, in emergency response, and in high-pressure operations, the mind carries as much load as the body.

At Response-Med, supporting workforce wellbeing isn’t an add-on — it’s part of how we design occupational health programmes for the teams we serve across East and Sub-Saharan Africa. From first responders to site medics, we know that resilience is built, not assumed.

Tomorrow is World Mental Health Day — a reminder that looking after people means looking after all of them.

🎓 Keeping our skills current
On our recent FREC 3 course in Kenya, we hosted members of our own medical teams alongside other experienced learners.
At Response-Med, we regularly invest in the ongoing training and development of our staff, ensuring their emergency care skills remain current, relevant and aligned with international standards.
We also provide opportunities for our teams to take part in our training courses, supporting continuous learning and knowledge transfer across our operations.
Because maintaining strong medical capability starts with keeping our people at the top of their game.

It was World First Aid Day on Saturday, a reminder that basic first aid skills save lives long before an ambulance arrives. Response-Med’s certified courses — from First Response Emergency Care to First Response Emergency Care-3 (FREC-3)— build that first line of defence on every site we support.

🇪🇹 It’s always good to be back in Ethiopia 🇪🇹, reconnecting with our clients, partners, colleagues and friends. Despite the challenges the region faces, it’s encouraging to see real progress on many levels including infrastructure, development and importantly for us, in healthcare.

A special thank you to our remote site Emergency Physicians and Critical Care Nurses, who keep showing up for our mining, renewables and humanitarian projects across the region.
