🤔 Why do we need the oils whose smell we hate the most?
👃🏻Our sense of smell is the only human sense that completely bypasses the neocortex (the logical, reasoning part of the brain). When you inhale an aroma, its volatile molecules travel through your nasal receptors and reach your Limbic System in less than twenty two seconds.
🧠 That’s your emotional brain: your oldest, most primitive survival center.
Two key structures live there:
1️⃣ The Amygdala: Your body’s alarm system and the emotional "vault" 🔒 where traumatic memories, fear, guilt, and heavy unprocessed emotions are stored.
2️⃣ The Hippocampus: Your body’s memory bank for associative experiences.
👩🏼🔬 When you smell an essential oil you dislike, a biochemical collision takes place:
🚪The oil carries a high, pure frequency that starts knocking right on the amygdala’s door.
❌Your limbic brain immediately senses that this scent is here to break through stored fears and control. But because the EGO fears vulnerability and desperately wants to stay in its comfort zone, it sends a sudden rejection signal: "Wrinkle your nose! Call it awful! Put the bottle down!" 🤢
It’s simply your mind’s natural defense mechanism kicking in against emotional release.
When an oil smells off-putting to you, it often indicates that the corresponding organ is stagnant and carrying emotional baggage. 🧳
If you find the courage to push past that initial reaction and start using the oil anyway (even just a diluted drop on the soles of your feet), you kickstart the RELEASE process:
1️⃣ Unlocking the Vault: The oil's molecules prompt the amygdala to open up. Trapped feelings are unblocked and brought into your conscious awareness.
2️⃣ The Emotional Detox: During the first few days, you might feel unusually irritable, sad out of nowhere, feel hyper-sensitive, or have intense, vivid dreams. 🛌💤
3️⃣ Emotional Healing: As you allow these feelings to surface, be felt, and be released, their weight dissolves. Your system resets.
The true magic?
After 2 to 3 weeks of daily use, if you smell that exact same oil you used to hate, you’ll be amazed to find it suddenly smells pleasant, sweet, or comforting. Right then, your limbic brain signals that the emotional block has been processed, and energy is flowing freely once again. 🕊️
For me, when I first tried cedarwood, I HATED IT!😂
🪵 If we find it difficult to form meaningful connections with those around us, cedarwood can help us feel more rooted in our relationships and reconnect with our own inner strength. When we feel disconnected and struggle to let others in, cedarwood invites us to soften, reconnect, and remember that life is meant to be shared.
⚠️ It teaches us that giving is beautiful, but so is allowing ourselves to receive.
