Hey Banditos friends and family!!!! We just wanted to share a quick update on the border, there seems to be a lot of misinformation floating around. So here's an actual first hand account of crossing at Lukeville:
#1 Driving from the US into Mexico - everything is basically the same. You don't need a visa or any special paperwork to cross. The Mexican border agents are being a bit more strict on what you can bring in. They are charging 114% tax on all alcohol. (Solution= buy your alcohol here in Rocky Point) Other than that, it's business a usual
#2 Driving from Mexico into the US - the Mexican military is searching EVERY vehicle heading north. They are looking for drugs. This is causing longer wait times. (Solution = don't bring drugs and choose your departure time wisely. If you leave at 11 am on a Sunday, you're gonna have a wait. If you don't want to wait, leave at 6 am, or wait until Monday or Tuesday if you can)
Moral of the story is: it's basically business as usual crossing the border. Expect to pay taxes on alcohol coming into Mexico. Expect longer wait times if you leave during peak travel hours leaving Mexico.
The border agents and Mexican military personnel were all very kind and efficient.
We hope to see you soon!!!
