ALS doesn’t begin in the muscles. It begins with the neurons that control them.
As Lou Gehrig’s disease, also known as ALS, progresses, motor neurons become damaged, progressively disrupting the communication between the nervous system and the muscles.
That loss of connection can affect movement, strength, speech, swallowing and other essential functions.
Understanding this mechanism has been part of Dr. Bars’ clinical and scientific work for years.
In 2016, Dr. Bars presented a clinical case involving a patient with ALS and an autologous mesenchymal stem cell approach at the 7th Annual Conference on Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine in Manchester, England.
The case was subsequently described in a scientific publication in 2017, documenting the therapeutic approach and the clinical evolution observed in that patient.
Today, that same commitment to studying complex neurodegenerative diseases continues at Bars Regenerative Medicine.
Each patient is evaluated individually, considering the progression of the disease, clinical condition and biological mechanisms involved before an individualized protocol is developed.
Our clinical experience has shown encouraging responses in some patients, but ALS remains a complex and progressive disease. Individual outcomes vary, and no treatment result can be guaranteed.
