The first day of spring is today, Friday, March 20, 2026

The equinoxes are recognized by many Native cultures for the purposes of practicality and ceremony. For one thing, equinoxes traditionally helped mark migration periods when tribes moved north or south, where herds of animals for hunting might be, and what plants might be dormant.

After a beautiful Ceremony.

It is not always easy to find the strength of will to follow through with a life in Service but the rewards are always worth it as the medicine is always strongest and most healing when the day has put us to work to open the space for Ceremony.

This particular Sunday morning the heavens opened and we were trying to light the fire in the rain, holding up palm leaves and plastic bags to protect the wood already stacked up to light, asking Great Spirit to guide us to hold the vision clear in our hearts that we can beyond our circumstances be in integrity with our commitment to this group.

Against the odds and beyond our own limitations we came together as a team and made what we thought was impossible happen. We lit the fire under the pouring rain and.. just like that the sun came out to bless our prayers and our day.

Behind the scenes the work is not always feathers and rainbows. More often than not it is hard work and dedication fueled by devotion and faith.
