I spent years assuming my team knew I had their back.
I checked in. I advocated for them. I genuinely cared.
But caring quietly isn't the same as them feeling cared for.
They weren't reading my intentions. They were reading my actions.
And when those were thin on the ground, their brain filled the gap with their own story. Which, when they were stressed, was never the generous one.
Care that isn't expressed isn't experienced.
It's just a nice thing you think to yourself.
If someone on your team is running on empty right now and hasn't heard from you, that's the gap.
Repost if this lands. Someone in your network probably needs to hear it.
