Dr. Kiley Hanish

Dr. Kiley Hanish I endured the tragedy of my first child being stillborn and now understand how essential it is to participate in your own healing.

I firmly believe that our stories can serve as catalysts for evolution and am honored to help you navigate this journey.

Over the past 18 months we’ve created the National Perinatal Loss Collaborative. 16 hospitals are already participating in this learning community and platform, and we’re excited to open this opportunity to other hospitals, community organizations, and individual members.

I’m deeply grateful to share that partnered with the & to help develop a new resource for bereaved families: When Goodbye Comes Too Soon.

Kristin James and I had the honor to present on this booklet at the National Funeral Directors Association Professional Women’s Conference in St. Pete, FL, last week.

This booklet was created to gently guide families through some of the decisions no parent ever expects to face — including options for final disposition, funerals and memorial services, remembrance, and memory making after pregnancy loss.

When my son, Norbert, died, I received very little guidance around any of this. In the midst of shock and grief, we were left trying to navigate overwhelming decisions on our own. I know firsthand how meaningful compassionate guidance can be during those moments — and I truly believe this resource will help so many families feel a little less alone.

These booklets are coming soon and will be available free of charge. If you’d like to be notified when they become available, you can sign up through the footer on the RTZ homepage. (https://rtzhope.org)

This weekend I was in Chicago with these amazing women — who are both mentors and colleagues—for the Pink Party (hence the pink outfits). I’m honored to be serving (and fundraising for) grieving families and their providers in the darkest days. 💕 and a special shoutout to the Jane’s Room coordinators who were able to join us!

As part of the Blue Shift Yuba-Sutter Perinatal Mental Health Conference, I facilitated a panel with other bereaved parents. This is often one of the most impactful pieces of training health professionals, when they can hear lived experiences. One attendee said “You just never know what someone has been through.”

Consider adding a parent panel to your perinatal bereavement training.

It was an honor to work with First Five Yuba County to create this year’s Blue Shift Yuba-Sutter’s Perinatal Mental Health Conference with a focus on pregnancy and infant loss. I want to give a shoutout to .tag.foundation Sharing Parents of Sacramento, and Adventist Health Rideout in Marysville for all doing amazing work to support grieving parents in the community.
