The world’s top golfer thinks about the way he breathes because he understands the impact it has on his body.
Nasal breathing isn’t a minor shift, it’s a serious transition. Here’s why:
1. It slows the activation of your amygdala (the brain’s fear center) and sends more blood to your prefrontal cortex where rational thinking occurs.
2. A nasal inhale brings nitric oxide into your bloodstream. This causes your blood vessels to open causing better blood flow and better athletic mobility.
3. It slows and evens your heart beat and coherence, causing you to spend less energy pumping blood throughout your body.
4. More nasal breathing means more viruses, germs and diseases are blocked by your nasal cavity. Do this more and you get sick less.
Nasal breathing isn’t optional if you’re trying to optimize your performance, it’s mandatory.
If you want to learn more, our next instructor cohort launches on August 26 where I’ll be teaching the full framework of our breath system.
