🦴 YOUR SKELETON ISN’T JUST A FRAME. IT’S A MINERAL BANK.

Bones do far more than hold the body upright. Almost all of the body’s calcium is stored in bones and teeth, much of it within a mineral structure called hydroxyapatite. But this calcium is not permanently locked away. Your nerves, muscles, heart and cells all depend on calcium too, so the skeleton acts as a carefully managed reserve that can store minerals when available and release them when the body needs them.

This happens through a continuous process called bone remodelling. Osteoblasts help build and mineralise new bone, while osteoclasts break down small areas of existing bone and release stored minerals back into circulation. Think of it like a biological bank account: bone formation makes deposits, bone resorption makes withdrawals, and long-term bone strength depends on keeping both in balance. If withdrawals repeatedly exceed deposits, the skeleton can gradually weaken even when blood calcium remains within the normal range.

That is why bone health is about more than simply getting enough calcium. Nutrition, hormones, physical activity, mechanical loading, bone formation and bone resorption all play a role in maintaining that balance. Your skeleton supports your body mechanically while quietly helping regulate the mineral chemistry essential for everyday function.

Bones do not simply hold the body together. They help keep the body in balance. Explore more at www.cell-tissue.com.

🫀 YOUR ARTERIES AREN’T PIPES. PLAQUE ISN’T GREASE.

Atherosclerosis is often described as fat simply sticking inside an artery until it becomes clogged, but the biology is more complex. Cholesterol-containing particles can become retained within the artery wall itself, triggering immune activity, lipid accumulation and fibrous tissue formation. Over time, this can develop into organised atherosclerotic plaque. The risk is not only how narrow the artery becomes, but also whether a plaque becomes unstable and ruptures, potentially triggering a blood clot that interrupts blood flow.

That is why cardiovascular health should not be reduced to one cholesterol number. The bigger picture includes lipid metabolism, blood pressure, blood-glucose control, smoking, physical activity, nutrition, family history and overall cardiovascular risk. Within this broader approach, CholestOff Extra is a professionally administered IV programme developed to support cholesterol and lipid management, incorporating Plaque-Killer Cells (PKC) and PPC-related mechanisms with a focus on lipid digestion, transport and metabolism. It should not be understood as physically “scraping plaque out of an artery,” but as supporting lipid-related biological processes alongside appropriate medical monitoring and cardiovascular care.

Because arteries are living tissue, not plumbing, cardiovascular health is far more complex than simply “unclogging” them. Explore CholestOff Extra through Cell Tissue Group at https://bit.ly/cholestoff-extra.

🌙 THE MENOPAUSE STORY DOESN’T BEGIN WITH THE LAST PERIOD

Many women think menopause starts the moment periods stop, but the body often begins changing years earlier. This stage, called perimenopause, can happen while periods are still ongoing. As ovarian hormone activity becomes more variable and ovulation less predictable, cycles may become shorter, longer, heavier or lighter. Some women may also notice hot flashes, night sweats, disrupted sleep, mood or concentration changes, joint discomfort, vaginal or urinary symptoms, or shifts in body composition, while others experience very few changes at all.

Menopause itself is only confirmed after 12 consecutive months without a menstrual period, which means the transition may already have been unfolding for quite some time. That is why midlife health is about more than simply waiting for periods to stop. It is also worth paying attention to sleep, bone strength, cardiovascular health, body composition, sexual health, mental wellbeing and everyday function. At the same time, not every new symptom should automatically be blamed on menopause, since thyroid problems, nutritional deficiencies, medications, sleep disorders and other conditions can sometimes cause similar changes.

The final period is an important milestone, but for many women, it is not the first chapter. Understanding the changes earlier can lead to better conversations, better assessment and more informed decisions about long-term health.

GENE EDITING MAY NO LONGER REQUIRE STEM CELLS TO LEAVE THE BODY 🧬🎯

Gene editing for blood disorders has traditionally taken a complicated route. Doctors first collect a patient’s blood-forming stem cells, edit them outside the body in a specialised laboratory, and then return those modified cells to the patient. The science is powerful, but the process is intensive, costly and difficult to scale widely.

Researchers are now exploring a very different idea: what if the editing tools could travel directly to the stem cells instead? Blood-forming stem cells naturally live inside the bone marrow. Rather than removing them first, scientists are testing targeted delivery systems designed to carry CRISPR gene-editing cargo straight to that environment. In early preclinical studies, specialised lipid nanoparticles have been used as tiny delivery vehicles to help guide the editing machinery toward these stem cells.

If this strategy can be developed safely and reliably, it could change more than the editing technology itself. It could simplify the entire treatment pathway by reducing the need for complex cell collection, laboratory manipulation and reinfusion procedures. That could eventually make advanced gene-editing approaches easier to deliver across more centres and potentially more accessible to patients.

The research is still at an early stage, and this approach is not yet standard treatment in people. But the direction is important. Instead of bringing the patient’s stem cells to the gene-editing tools, scientists are working toward a future where the gene-editing tools go directly to the stem cells where they already live.

🧬 THE DIAGNOSIS GIVES CANCER A NAME. IT DOESN’T TELL THE WHOLE STORY.

2 patients may receive the same cancer diagnosis, involving the same organ and even a similar stage, yet the biology driving their disease can be very different.

Cancer is not simply one uniform group of abnormal cells. Within a tumour, different cells can behave differently, activate different molecular pathways and rely on different signals to grow or survive. This biological variation is known as tumour heterogeneity, and it is one reason modern oncology increasingly looks beyond the diagnosis itself.

The question is no longer only, “What cancer is this?”
It is also, “What is this cancer biologically doing?”

To answer that, scientists can study molecular information such as genes, proteins and gene expression, which tells us which genes are actively being used by the cells. One important part of this picture is messenger RNA, or mRNA. mRNA acts like a temporary copy of a genetic instruction, carrying information that tells the cell which proteins to produce. When certain cancer-related genes become unusually active, their RNA activity can provide clues about the molecular processes taking place within that particular cancer.

This is the scientific basis behind our Genompic™, a personalised RNA-guided molecular support platform developed for confirmed cancer cases. The process begins by studying patient-specific cancer-cell and molecular information to identify selected signals that are expressed at unusually high levels. These findings can then be used to develop a support strategy around the molecular characteristics identified in that individual case, rather than looking at the cancer name alone.

COULD A TINY IMPLANT HELP THE BODY MAKE INSULIN AGAIN? 🧬

For many people with diabetes, keeping blood sugar under control means checking glucose often and taking insulin through injections or a delivery device. Researchers are now exploring a different approach: placing living insulin-producing cells inside a small implant that works from within the body.

The implant contains islet cells, the specialised cells that normally sense rising glucose and release insulin. Think of it as a tiny protected home. The chamber keeps the cells together, while its oxygen-support system helps them survive and continue working. In theory, when blood sugar rises, the cells could respond by releasing insulin in a way that more closely follows the body’s natural needs.

Keeping these cells alive is one of the biggest challenges. Like every living cell, they need a steady oxygen supply. Without enough oxygen, their function may weaken. By building oxygen support into the device, researchers hope to create a safer and more stable environment for the implanted cells.

This technology is still experimental and is not yet a routine treatment. Researchers must continue studying its safety, durability and ability to control glucose over time. Even so, the idea points towards an exciting possibility: future diabetes care may not focus only on delivering insulin from outside the body, but on restoring some insulin-producing function from within.

🫘 WHAT YOUR KIDNEYS KEEP MATTERS AS MUCH AS WHAT THEY REMOVE

Most people think of the kidneys as simple filters: blood goes in, waste comes out, and urine is made. But the process is much smarter than that.

Inside each kidney are millions of tiny working units called nephrons. They first filter fluid from the blood, but that fluid still contains water, salts and other substances the body may need. As it moves through the nephron, the kidneys sort everything carefully. Useful materials are returned to the bloodstream, while excess substances and waste are sent into the urine.

This constant sorting helps keep the body stable. The kidneys adjust water, minerals and acid levels, which supports normal nerve signals, muscle function, blood pressure and the body’s overall chemical balance. They also release signals involved in red blood cell production and bone health.

So kidney health is not only about removing waste. It is also about keeping the right things, in the right amounts, at the right time. The kidneys may be small, but every day they make thousands of quiet decisions that help the rest of the body work properly.
