Stage 4B Ovarian Cancer with Lung Metastasis and Ascites Resolved

One and a half years ago, Mrs. Jumariati experienced coughing up blood due to ovarian cancer that had spread to her lungs. She also suffered from abdominal swelling caused by fluid accumulation in the abdomen (ascites) and massive pleural effusion in the lungs. She underwent chemotherapy treatment. After chemotherapy and insertion of drainage tubes, the ascitic fluid reduced and her abdomen became less swollen.

However, despite undergoing five cycles of chemotherapy over four months, the cancer continued to grow. The ovarian tumor increased from 6cm to 7 cm to 14 cm, while the lung tumors enlarged from 2–3 cm to 5–6 cm. Within less than six months, the tumors had more than doubled in size. The cancer characteristics were consistent with a highly aggressive malignancy, and biopsy results later confirmed high-grade serous cell carcinoma.

Because the cancer had already spread to the lungs, surgery was initially not possible, and chemotherapy remained the only medical option. Unfortunately, chemotherapy was no longer effective. At that time, Mrs. Jumariati’s remaining option was ECCT therapy.

Mrs. Jumariati began using the ECCT device in late 2024. Gradually, her condition improved. Her appetite returned, and her coughing and shortness of breath progressively subsided. The coughing up of blood stopped within two weeks of starting ECCT.

During treatment, she expelled large amounts of white mucus, sometimes mixed with thick yellow mucus, believed to be part of the shedding process of cancer cells in the lungs. She also experienced frequent gas, clear foamy urine without strong odor, and urination almost every hour during the first 2–3 months of use.

At the beginning of therapy, she developed fever-like symptoms similar to a viral infection. Overtime, her overall condition improved significantly. Within less than three months, she resumed routine household activities such as mopping floors, cooking daily meals, and preparing weekly meals for Friday charity events. In less than six months, she was able to return to offline teaching activities on campus.

Fortunately, the lung lesions had become relatively clear and there was no longer pleural effusion, allowing doctors to proceed with surgery on the ovarian tumor. Mrs. Jumariati underwent three cycles of chemotherapy before surgery and another three afterward. The ovarian tumor was successfully removed without adhesions. Using ECCT for 2–3 months before surgery may help reduce adhesions in ovarian cancer cases and allow cleaner surgical removal. She continued using ECCT afterward for recurrence prevention and general health support.

The surgical pathology confirmed high-grade serous cell carcinoma, an aggressive form of ovarian cancer. HGSC with lung metastasis commonly causes massive pleural effusion and ascites and is generally classified as advanced stage IVB disease. Standard treatment in such cases is usually palliative, focusing on symptom relief such as draining fluid from the lungs and abdomen. Prognosis is generally poor, with reported average survival ranging from 7–23 months, and achieving remission is considered very difficult.

Mrs. Jumariati eventually transitioned from a palliative condition to a curative state, becoming cancer-free and returning to normal daily life. At present, Mrs. Jumariati is described as being in good health, carrying out normal daily activities, and having remained well 1.5 years after beginning ECCT therapy, or approximately two years after being diagnosed with stage IVB ovarian cancer.

Breast Cancer Complications You Shouldn’t Ignore

Breast cancer is not only about a lump in the breast✨

When breast cancer progresses, it may spread to other parts of the body, including the bones, lungs, liver, and brain🧠

These complications can be serious and may affect a person’s daily life, causing symptoms such as bone pain, shortness of breath, fatigue, headaches, or changes in body function

Understanding these possible complications is not about creating fear

It is about staying informed, paying attention to new or worsening symptoms, and knowing when to seek medical advice

Awareness helps patients and families make better decisions and get the right support at the right time

If you or your loved one is facing breast cancer, don’t ignore unusual symptoms
Stay informed, stay alert, and speak to a healthcare professional when needed

X-ray,

Advanced Prostate Cancer Patient Reports Reduced Urination and shrinkage After ECCT Therapy

When Mr. Barrington Beckford, 87 years old from Romania first started ECCT under the care of Dr Chandran, the family’s biggest concern was not only the Advanced Prostate Cancer itself, but also his age, overall comfort, and whether his quality of life could realistically be maintained at 87 years old.

He had already gone through radiotherapy and hormonal treatment for Advanced Prostate Cancer with spread to the bones and lymph nodes. Although the treatments were necessary, the side effects and uncertainty were difficult for both him and his family. His prostate remained significantly enlarged, and one of the most disruptive symptoms was the constant urination, especially throughout the night. According to his wife and family, he was waking up almost every 30 minutes to go to the toilet, which severely disrupted his sleep and left him tired and uncomfortable throughout the day.

After using ECCT consistently for a couple of months, the family noticed a meaningful improvement. His night-time urination gradually reduced to around only 1–3 times per night. For the family, this was one of the most important changes because he was finally able to get much better sleep and rest more comfortably.

Aside, another encouraging finding came from his follow-up imaging. Later ultrasound reports showed that his prostate volume had reduced from around 170 ml previously down to approximately 120 ml after starting ECCT alongside his ongoing medical care. While the family understood this was not a guarantee or cure, seeing measurable improvement while he remained clinically stable and active gave them reassurance and hope.

Another noticeable improvement was his pain level and frequency. Before ECCT, discomfort and pain were happening almost daily. Over time, the pain became much less frequent and only occasional instead of a constant daily issue. His wife shared that he appeared more comfortable overall and was able to function more normally again.

What stood out most to the family was how active and independent he remained despite his condition. He continued doing cooking, gardening, and daily walking routines, which gave him not only physical activity but also purpose and enjoyment in life. For an elderly patient, maintaining these meaningful daily activities was emotionally very important for both him and his loved ones.

During follow-ups, he continued to appear cheerful, coherent, and engaged. He was eating and sleeping better, remained active around the house, and carried himself with a much more positive outlook. His wife repeatedly mentioned that she felt the combination of treatments, together with ECCT, had contributed positively to his overall wellbeing and stability.

The family also appreciated that ECCT could be done comfortably at home under supervision, especially since travelling had become difficult after previous treatments. Rather than focusing only on the disease itself, the therapy helped support his daily comfort, routine, and quality of life in a way that felt manageable for the whole family.

Mr. Beckford also shared during follow-up that if there was one thing he would have done differently, it would have been to start ECCT earlier if he had discovered it sooner. For him, the improvements in sleep, comfort, daily function, and ability to continue enjoying life’s simple activities became deeply meaningful.

While every patient’s response is different and ECCT does not replace conventional medical treatment, the family felt grateful to witness meaningful improvements in his day-to-day wellbeing, comfort, and independence during his journey.

Not Just a Cough: What Happens in Advanced Lung Cancer🫁

A cough may seem like something small, but in advanced lung cancer, symptoms can go beyond breathing problems

As the condition progresses, some patients may experience complications that affect their daily life, energy level, comfort, and overall quality of life

Common complications may include:
🔴Shortness of breath
🔴Fluid buildup in the lungs
🔴Fatigue and weakness
🔴Frequent infections

These symptoms can make simple daily activities feel harder, such as walking, sleeping, talking, or even resting comfortably

That’s why early awareness matters

Understanding these signs can help patients and families know when to seek medical advice and manage symptoms earlier☀️

If symptoms become more frequent, more intense, or harder to manage, please speak to a doctor or healthcare professional👀

Mrs. Niken

Gefitinib
