During his visit to Malaysia, WHO Regional Director for the Western Pacific Dr Saia Ma’u Piukala met with the Honourable Minister of Health YB Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad.

They discussed Malaysia’s key health priorities, including ongoing health system reforms, the growing burden of noncommunicable diseases and the importance of strengthening health systems to meet current and future needs.

The meeting also marked an important moment in the WHO–Malaysia partnership, with the signing of Malaysia’s contribution to WHO Investment Round — reinforcing a shared commitment to sustainably finance global public health priorities and accelerate progress towards better health outcomes.

Building on this strong partnership, WHO will continue to work closely with the KEMENTERIAN KESIHATAN MALAYSIA and national partners to support Malaysia’s health goals through collaboration, innovation and a focus on equity.

Always a proud moment when colleagues from across WHO — HQ, regional and country offices — come together to shape the global health agenda. 🌍

And it’s even more special when those conversations are happening right here in 🇲🇾 😎

The Global Health Security Conference 2026 has brought together partners, experts, healthcare specialists and health leaders from around the world for important discussions on strengthening how we prepare for and respond to health threats in an increasingly complex global health landscape.

Insightful opportunity to learn from and collaborate with experts, including Regional Director Dr Saia Ma'u Piukala, Dr Maria Van Kerkhove, Acting Director Department of Epidemic and Pandemic Management and Dr. Gina Samaan, Regional Emergencies Director for the Western Pacific Region.

Great to see collaboration in action — with partnerships, people and shared purpose at the heart of advancing global health security for all.

Do you know your blood pressure numbers?

A blood pressure reading of 140/90 or higher may indicate hypertension (high blood pressure).

⚠️ Hypertension often has no symptoms — many people don’t know they have it until serious complications develop.

That’s why regular blood pressure checks are so important for early detection and timely care.

Across the Western Pacific Region including in Malaysia, millions of adults are living with hypertension — and many are unaware they have it and are un-diagnosed.

✅ Check your blood pressure regularly
✅ Seek advice early
✅ Protect your heart, brain and kidney

Know your numbers. Protect your future.

A significant step forward for our children’s health in begins in 🇲🇾

Experts from across the globe come together for the Workshop on Strengthening Paediatric Medicines Ecosystems in the ASEAN region.

🤝 As part of a new partnership between the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Temasek Foundation, this meeting marks the start of a coordinated regional effort to address longstanding gaps in access to paediatric medicines — through stronger systems, shared priorities and collective action including in innovation and accelerating paediatric product formulation.

Over the coming days, participants will move beyond dialogue to define regional priorities, align approaches and shape practical pathways for collaboration — from 🏛️ regulation and 📦 procurement to 📊 data and 🚚 delivery — to ensure every child in ASEAN countries has access to safe, effective and age‑appropriate medicines.

Stronger regional cooperation today means better health for our children tomorrow.
