💗 Selamat Menyambut Bulan Kaunseling Kebangsaan 2026! 🌷

Sometimes, keeping the peace can feel more important than expressing what we really want or need. 🌷🧠

The Fawn response is one of the 4F trauma responses. It can happen when we try to avoid a perceived threat by appeasing others, keeping them happy, or preventing conflict.

It might look like:

🌷 Saying yes when you actually want to say no
🌷 Apologising for things that aren’t your fault
🌷 Putting other people’s feelings before your own
🌷 Avoiding disagreements or difficult conversations
🌷 Feeling uncomfortable when you have to set boundaries

You may find yourself automatically thinking about how others will feel before checking in with yourself. Over time, this can leave you feeling emotionally drained, anxious, guilty, or disconnected from your own needs. ❤️‍🩹

If you notice yourself slipping into people-pleasing, take a moment to pause and ask yourself: What do I actually want? What do I need right now? Am I saying yes because I want to, or because I’m afraid of disappointing someone? 🫂

Learning to care for yourself doesn’t mean you care any less about others. Sometimes, it simply means remembering that your needs matter too. 💗😊

Sometimes, when things feel too overwhelming, our response isn’t to fight or run. It’s to freeze. 😶🧠

The Freeze response is one of the 4F trauma responses, where we may feel stuck, unable to act, or disconnected when something feels threatening or too much to process.

You might notice yourself:
🌷 Going quiet or finding it hard to speak
🌷 Experiencing mental blankness
🌷 Struggling to make decisions
🌷 Feeling detached or disconnected
🌷 Shutting down when things become overwhelming

In the moment, it may feel like your mind has simply gone blank or your body isn’t responding the way you want it to. These reactions can be your mind and body trying to protect you when something feels unsafe. ❤️‍🩹

When you notice yourself freezing, try gently checking in: What am I feeling right now? What is making this feel overwhelming? And what would help me feel a little more grounded? 🫂☺️

You don’t have to have all the answers immediately. Sometimes, giving yourself a moment to pause and reconnect can be the first step. 💗✨

We promise it’s not a “we don’t want to talk to you” thing 😭😣

We understand that clients may sometimes have something important they want to share, ask about, or simply check in about between sessions. ❤️‍🩹

However, as part of ethical practice, therapists are required to maintain appropriate professional boundaries. This means keeping communication within the clinic’s designated channels and keeping personal contact information private. 🔐☺️

These boundaries help protect confidentiality and ensure that the therapeutic relationship remains safe, professional, and respectful for everyone involved. 🌷💗

If something comes up between sessions, just reach out to the clinic team and we’ll guide you from there. 🫶🏻🥰

Sometimes, when something feels too overwhelming, our first instinct isn’t to deal with it, it’s to get away. 🏃‍♀️💨

The Flight response is one of the 4F trauma responses, where we may try to escape, avoid, distract ourselves, or keep busy when we perceive something as threatening or unsafe. 🧠

You might notice yourself:
🌷 Avoiding difficult conversations or situations
🌷 Keeping yourself constantly busy
🌷 Overworking or taking on too much
🌷 Feeling restless when things become quiet
🌷 Distracting yourself from uncomfortable emotions

While these behaviours may provide temporary relief, they can also make it harder to notice what we’re actually feeling underneath. 😢

When you notice yourself wanting to escape, try pausing and asking: What am I trying to get away from? What am I feeling right now? And what do I need in this moment? 🤔

Sometimes, understanding the feeling beneath the urge to run can be the first step towards responding differently. 💗😊

🥊 Meet the 1st of the 4 F’s: Fight 🤺

When things feel threatening or overwhelming, our nervous system may switch into “Fight” mode, preparing us to confront what feels unsafe. 🧠

It can show up as:
• Defensiveness
• Aggression or anger
• A need for control
• Raging or irritability
• Blaming or criticising others

Perhaps we can pause after that moment and check in with ourselves, what exactly caused me to feel upset or angry: was it what was said, how it was said, or something about the situation that made me feel uncomfortable or threatened? 🤔😣

Sometimes, taking a moment to understand what’s behind the reaction after the event can help us respond with a little more awareness. 💗✨

Ever wondered why you react the way you do when things get a little… too much? 👀🤔

Sometimes we fight. Sometimes we run. Sometimes we completely shut down.
And sometimes… we’re suddenly saying “it’s okay!” when it’s definitely NOT okay. 😭

These reactions can be part of the 4 F’s of Trauma Responses: Fight, Flight, Freeze & Fawn. 🧠✨

They are ways our nervous system responds when we feel threatened, overwhelmed, or unsafe, often before we even have time to think about it. 🫢

But what do these responses actually look like in everyday life? 👀💖
Let’s dive a little deeper into the 4 F’s together. 🌷😊
