These three panels adorn the lobby wall.

Soot ink and alum liquid on rice paper — a traditional ink resistance technique in which the numerals were first hidden, then revealed by washing. What looks like abstract mark-making is actually a numeral system: Huāmǎ, the Suzhou numerals that governed sea trade across the Nusantara two centuries ago.

The series is called Confusion, Comprehension and Precision — the three stages of learning something forgotten. Within the final panel, significant dates in Malaysian history are encoded.
