Happy Aphasia Awareness Month!

Aphasia is a type of communication disorders following a brain injury eg stroke, brain cancer, dementia etc. It not only affects one’s ability to talk, as well as their ability to understand, read and write. This has greatly impacted self esteem and participation of the social activities.

Our online session participants showed their high spirit in their recovery journey through simple patch design. Through simple wordings and pictures, they have proved themselves again, they will continue to strive for a better self. We are happy for them being part of us. You will never be alone.

Upcoming June is Global Aphasia Awareness Month!

We had a wonderful Sunday session, together with Speech Therapy UKM and Tender Hearts. With the theme HANDS THAT SPEAK, aphasia survivors happily practise their speech with the students and the public. Care givers also get the chance to share their experiences with each other at the care giver table.

This event is preparing an aphasia-friendly platform to connect Aphasia Survivors and Care givers together with the public, helping the Aphasia Survivors to slowly reaching out to the society again and be able to contribute again. 😊
