A little story about sensitive skin. 🤍
There was a little boy whose neck had darkened over time — the aftermath of skin that had been inflamed and irritated for a while.
One day, a sales rep came to his school to promote a body shampoo brand. In front of his classmates, she said:
"Maybe if you actually showered properly, your skin wouldn't look like that."
He didn't say a word.
He just kept his head down, too afraid to look up and see the doubt in his friends' eyes.
That night, at home,
he tore open the sample she'd given him.
He scrubbed. Hard. Again and again.
As if enough force could wash away the dark patches on his skin,
and the words that were now stuck in his head.
But his skin didn't get lighter.
It got redder. Itchier. More irritated than ever.
And he felt worse.
"Am I really dirty?"
"Did I just not try hard enough?"
He kept asking himself, over and over.
But here's the truth: for sensitive skin, over-washing, hard scrubbing, and heavily fragranced products don't clean it better. They only make it more reactive, more unstable.
So please — don't judge a child's hygiene based on their skin tone, a rash, or rough patches.
Because one careless comment can stay with a child for a very long time.
🔔 A gentle reminder for parents and teachers:
If a child's skin keeps flaring up, itching, or getting worse, it's worth having it checked by a doctor — rather than simply "cleaning harder."
👉Avoid harsh scrubbing and strongly fragranced products. Gentle cleansing and proper moisturising are usually the better place to start.
