GENERAL SANTOS CITY โ Mindanao State University-General Santos (MSU-GenSan) will hold the groundbreaking ceremony for the soon-to-rise Masjid Al-Muttaqin at the MSU-General Santos CETD Campus on August 26, 2026.
The construction of the mosque is made possible through the generous support of the Amal Foundation of Malaysia as the primary donor. The Foundation will be officially represented by its Vice President, Mr. Zulkifli Bin Baharom, together with members of the Masjid Committee of Amal.
This project marks a historic milestone as it is the first mosque to be constructed by the Amal Foundation in the Philippines.
Masjid Al-Muttaqin is envisioned to serve as a central place of worship, spiritual guidance, and community gathering for the MSU-General Santos CETD community, as well as the surrounding Muslim population in General Santos City and nearby areas.
Under the directive of the University Chancellor, the Halal Research and Training Center - MSU Gensan was tasked to oversee and prepare the technical requirements and arrangements necessary for the realization of this partnership.
This landmark initiative is being realized under the leadership of MSU-General Santos Chancellor Shidik Zed T. Abantas, MDM, LLM, in line with the universityโs commitment to provide holistic development that includes the spiritual welfare of its students, faculty, and personnel.
The partnership between MSU-General Santos and Amal Foundation Malaysia reflects a shared vision of promoting Islamic values, education, and inter-institutional cooperation between the Philippines and Malaysia.
The groundbreaking ceremony will mark the official commencement of construction works for Masjid Al-Muttaqin, a project expected to stand as a symbol of faith, unity, and academic excellence within the MSU system.
