👶 “Why does my newborn hiccup so much?”

Hic… hic… hic… and suddenly mummy and daddy are staring at baby wondering, “Is this normal?” 😅

For most newborns, hiccups are very common and usually nothing to worry about.

They often happen around feeding time, and baby's developing diaphragm and nervous system are still maturing.

💕 If baby seems comfortable, you usually don't need to try to stop every episode. Most hiccups will settle by themselves.

One useful feeding habit is to feed baby calmly and burp as appropriate, especially if baby tends to swallow air during feeds.

And please don't use adult hiccup tricks on a newborn — no frightening baby, holding their breath, or giving random remedies. 😄

⚠️ If hiccups occur together with breathing difficulty, poor feeding, repeated vomiting, unusual distress, or something about your baby's condition concerns you, seek medical advice.

🌸 Antenatal Class Part 1 Recap | 5 September 2026 🤰👶

What a wonderful session with 7 couples joining us both in person and via Zoom! 💕

It was a fun and interactive 2-hour session led by Sr. Agnes Tam, where our parents-to-be learned more about their pregnancy journey, asked plenty of questions, and gained practical knowledge to help them feel more prepared and confident for the months ahead.

Pregnancy comes with many new experiences — and sometimes many, many questions! 😄 Having the right guidance and support can make the journey a little less overwhelming.

A big thank you to all 7 couples for spending your afternoon with us. 🌷

We wish every mummy a smooth, healthy and safe pregnancy, and every couple a beautiful journey as you prepare to welcome your little one. ❤️

🌙 Why Does My Newborn Wake Up So Often?

Newborn sleep can be quite a surprise for first-time parents. Just when you think baby is finally asleep… those little eyes are open again. 😴👶

The good news? Frequent waking can be completely normal during the newborn stage.

Newborns may wake because they need to feed, have a wet or dirty diaper, feel too warm or cold, or simply need some comfort and closeness. Their little bodies are also still developing a day-and-night rhythm.

🍼 Frequent feeding is normal
❤️ Newborns need comfort and reassurance
🌙 Their sleep pattern is still developing

Instead of expecting a newborn to sleep through the night, it can help to understand that sleep comes in shorter periods during these early weeks.

As baby grows, their sleep pattern will gradually mature too. 💕

And to all the tired mummies and daddies doing another middle-of-the-night feed — you're certainly not the only ones awake! 😄
