๐ŸŒŸ Day 2 | Advanced Type 1 Diabetes HCP Education Program ๐ŸŒŸ

Kuching is still buzzing with learning! ๐Ÿ’™

What a great turnout for Day 2 of the Advanced Type 1 Diabetes HCP Education Program, organised by Changing Diabetes in Children (CDiC).

Day 2 took us deeper into the evolving landscape of Type 1 Diabetes, beginning with early-stage T1D screening and the very real challenges of delivering high-quality diabetes care in resource-limited settings.

The learning continued through engaging, case-based discussions focused on practical issues that healthcare professionals encounter in their daily practice โ€” including adjunctive therapies, cardiorenal complications, weight management and hypoglycaemia unawareness.

Importantly, we also addressed the often-overlooked mental health challenges faced by people living with T1D, highlighting the need for holistic care that goes beyond glucose management. ๐Ÿซถ

The programme concluded with discussions on managing T1D in special situations, including Ramadan, alcohol consumption and driving โ€” topics that require practical knowledge, thoughtful counselling and individualised care.

Throughout the two days, the enthusiasm remained high. The active participation, thoughtful questions and lively discussions reflected a shared commitment among healthcare professionals to continuously improve the quality of care we provide to people living with Type 1 Diabetes.

In the closing remarks, the Chairperson encouraged more healthcare professionals to join the Basic Type 1 Diabetes HCP Education Programme, equipping themselves with the latest knowledge and practical skills in T1D management.

Because better diabetes care begins with better education, stronger teamwork and a shared commitment to keep learning. ๐Ÿ’™

A huge thank you to all our wonderful faculty, participants and the CDiC team for making these two days so meaningful and memorable.

Two days. Many conversations. One shared goal โ€” better care for every person living with Type 1 Diabetes. ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡พ๐Ÿ’™

Kuching is buzzing with learning today! ๐Ÿ’™

The Advanced Type 1 Diabetes HCP Education Program by Changing Diabetes in Children (CDIC) has officially kicked off in Kuching, bringing together 53 enthusiastic healthcare professionals from across Malaysia for two days of learning, sharing and collaboration.

We are truly honoured to welcome a dedicated faculty from around the country, bringing together expertise from adult endocrinology, paediatric endocrinology, dietetics, diabetes education and pharmacy. ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡พ

Day 1 was packed with engaging lectures, interactive case discussions and lively cross-talk sessions, covering a wide spectrum of topics in Type 1 Diabetes โ€” from advanced carbohydrate counting, atypical presentations and CGM interpretation, to insulin management, special situations and diabetes care throughout the growing years.

Beyond the lectures, the real highlight was the opportunity to connect, exchange experiences and learn from one another. Every discussion brought new perspectives and practical insights that can ultimately translate into better care for people living with Type 1 Diabetes.

A big terima kasih and welcome to Kuching to all our participants and faculty! ๐ŸŒบ

We are proud to host this wonderful gathering of passionate healthcare professionals and to be part of the journey towards stronger, more confident and more comprehensive Type 1 Diabetes care across Malaysia.

Southern Paediatric Endocrine Updates, 2026 !

The Malaysian Paediatric Endocrine and Diabetes Group (MPEDG), in collaboration with MEMS successfully hosted the inaugural Paediatric Endocrine Updates Seminar in Johor Bahru on 1 August 2026.

Held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Johor Bahru, the seminar brought together approximately 50โ€“60 healthcare professionals from the fields of Paediatrics, Adult Endocrinology, and Family Medicine.

The seminar was designed to enhance awareness and knowledge of common paediatric endocrine disorders encountered in clinical practice, with a particular emphasis on the early recognition and assessment of short stature.

Key sessions highlighted the importance of timely identification of children who may benefit from growth hormone therapy, including those born small for gestational age (SGA), and children with Turner syndrome and Praderโ€“Willi syndrome. Additional topics included the assessment and management of calcium disorders, bone health, and neonatal endocrine conditions, providing participants with practical updates relevant to general paediatric practice.

The seminar was well received and reflects MPEDG's continued commitment to advancing paediatric endocrine education and promoting the early diagnosis and optimal management of endocrine disorders in children throughout Malaysia!
