Receiving messages like this is a humbling reminder of why we do what we do. Seeing a patient regain their health, confidence, and joy—and watching a family get their loved one back—is one of the most rewarding parts of medicine.

To this family, thank you for your kind words and trust. Your message means more than you know. ❤️

When you experience joint or back pain, your first instinct might be to book an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon. But here is a medical truth: not all joint pain requires surgery. 🩺

As a rheumatologist, my goal is to step in before surgery becomes the only option. While orthopedic surgeons specialize in operative fixes, rheumatologists look at the root cause of your pain, especially when it stems from an autoimmune or inflammatory response.

What we do:
- Identify if your immune system is in overdrive (attacking your joints, bones, or muscles).
- Strengthen your joints through non-surgical treatments.
- Provide targeted gel injections when necessary.
- Create personalized plans for long-term pain management and lifestyle adjustments.
-
Whether it’s Osteoarthritis, Osteoporosis, Gout, or Psoriatic Arthritis, we are here to manage the spectrum of joint health. If your pain keeps returning and things just aren't adding up, it might be time to look deeper.

Tophi are not just “bumps.”

They are a sign that uric acid has stayed high for a long time, often after years of uncontrolled gout.

Tophi can appear in many places, including the hands, feet, elbows, ankles, joints, tendons, ligaments, and even the ears. Over time, they can affect walking, grip, movement, daily function, and may be a sign that gout needs closer medical attention.

Painkillers may help during a flare, but they do not remove uric acid crystals or stop tophi from forming if uric acid remains uncontrolled.

The goal is not just fewer attacks. It is better long-term uric acid control.

Please get checked if you have repeated gout attacks, visible lumps, gout in many joints, kidney problems, or pain that keeps coming back.

The most common question I get is:

“What is a rheumatologist?”

Hello 👋 I’m Dr. Ramani.

A rheumatologist is a specialist who looks after conditions affecting the joints, muscles, bones and immune system.

This includes conditions such as arthritis, gout, lupus, osteoporosis and other autoimmune diseases.

Many patients come in with symptoms like persistent joint pain, swelling, stiffness, fatigue, rashes, unexplained fever or repeated flare-ups, sometimes not realising these may be connected.

At Dr. Ramani Rheumatology Clinic, my approach is to listen carefully, assess your symptoms, clarify the diagnosis and create a treatment plan that supports your long-term health and quality of life.

If you are dealing with ongoing joint pain, stiffness, swelling or autoimmune concerns, a specialist review may help you understand what is happening and what can be done next.
