“I tried the gym once and hurt my back, so it’s not for me.”
We hear this constantly, and the first month is almost always the same story: too much weight too soon, nobody watching the form, and pain pushed through in the name of discipline.
That’s not evidence that strength training is bad for your spine. It’s the strongest thing we have for long-term back health. It just means the start was wrong — heavier than it should have been, and unsupervised.
Start lighter than your ego wants. Learn to hinge. Get someone to watch the first few sessions. Then try again.
DM us “START” if you want to know where to begin with a back that’s already given you trouble. 💪
