| A Fresh New Look for Our Plaque House |

Our Plaque House at the Dental Health Education Clinic, Kulliyyah of Dentistry, IIUM Kuantan has been given a fresh new look! 🎉

With a brighter, more colourful, and cheerful environment, we hope to make learning about oral health more fun and enjoyable, especially for our young visitors. Through engaging displays and educational materials, children can learn the importance of keeping their teeth healthy in an interactive way.

We believe that a positive learning environment can help encourage healthy oral health habits from an early age. 😊

| Jom Senyum 2026 secures 2nd Place at NDSSC 2026 |

Dental Public Health (DPH) unit, Kulliyyah of Dentistry, would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to the Jom Senyum 2026 programme team for securing 🥈 2nd Place in the Community Engagement Competition at the 18th National Dental Students’ Scientific Conference (NDSSC) 2026.

This remarkable achievement reflects the team’s dedication, hard work, and commitment towards promoting oral health awareness and community engagement.

Adding to this proud milestone, the programme had also previously achieved international recognition by securing 🥉 3rd Place at the International Dental Student Summer Camp (IDSSC) 2026 held at University of Malaya earlier this January.

We would also like to congratulate the students who proudly represented and presented the project at these prestigious events. Your passion, teamwork, and excellence have brought great pride to the department and the Kulliyyah.

May this success inspire continued efforts in serving the community and striving for greater achievements in the future.

MOH POSTING 2026| KEDAH & PERAK

Final year students (15th Batch) from Kulliyyah of Dentistry, IIUM Kuantan had the opportunity to complete their Ministry of Health (MOH) Posting in Perak and Kedah from 4-7 May 2026.

It was a meaningful few days where they stepped beyond the classroom and experienced firsthand how the MOH dental system works, from the daily workflow to the real clinical environment. This kind of exposure helps them better understand what awaits them and prepares them for the transition into working life.

We hope this experience has given them greater confidence, deeper insight, and a smoother path ahead as they begin their journey as future Dental Officers.

We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to the JKN Kedah and JKN Perak Bahagian Pergigian teams for their warm hospitality and continuous support throughout the posting. Your kindness and willingness to share valuable experiences made this attachment both meaningful and memorable for our students.

We are proud to have representatives from the Dental Public Health Kulliyyah of Dentistry participating in this meaningful gathering of professionals, leaders, and advocates in oral health.

The conference was officiated by YBhg. Datuk Dr. Mahathar bin Abd Wahab, Director General of Health, Malaysia, marking a significant start to a day filled with insightful discussions, from community empowerment and policy implementation to prevention and health literacy.

| Visit to Quit Smoking Clinic at SASMEC 2026|

DPH Department had the privilege of bringing our Year 3 KOD students to visit the Quit Smoking Clinic at SASMEC. It was an experience that truly brought learning to life.

This visit was designed to give students meaningful exposure to how a Quit Smoking Clinic operates in a real clinical setting. From observing patient counselling sessions to understanding behavioural support approaches and to***co dependence management, students gained valuable insight into the practical side of to***co cessation.

The objective of this visit was to inspire and motivate our future healthcare professionals to take an active role in to***co cessation efforts. As they move forward in their training, we hope they carry with them not only the skills, but also the compassion needed to support their patients in leading healthier, smoke-free lives.

A heartfelt thank you to the team at SASMEC for making this experience so impactful and memorable.

| Board of Studies Meeting MDPH & DrDPH |

The Kulliyyah of Dentistry, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) successfully hosted a two-day Board of Studies (BOS) Meeting on 9–10 February 2026 for the Master in Dental Public Health (MDPH) and Doctor in Dental Public Health (DrDPH) programmes.

It was a great opportunity to bring together our local and international Board of studies members to share ideas, give feedback, and discuss to further strengthen our postgraduate programmes. The discussions covered curriculum development, course content, assessments, and future directions of Dental Public Health Postgraduate Programmes.

Dental Public Health Unit would like to extend sincere appreciation to all Board of studies members for their valuable guidance and continued support towards our academic excellence. Their contributions are truly appreciated and play an important role in shaping the future of our programmes.
