The Modern Evolution from Medical to Cosmetic Acupuncture:
Modern facial acupuncture was initially used primarily to treat conditions such as facial paralysis (Bell's palsy), post-stroke sequelae, and facial muscle asymmetry. During clinical practice, practitioners of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) unexpectedly discovered that as patients regained muscle control, the local skin became firmer and fine lines diminished.
Subsequently, western scholars adapted these medical rehabilitation techniques for modern aesthetic care. Cosmetic acupuncture has since been systematized and scientifically refined into "facial rejuvenation acupuncture," utilizing needles that are even finer than a human hair.
Cosmetic Acupuncture is known as a "green therapy" because it involves no chemical medications, injections, or surgery; instead, it relies solely on the use of fine needles to stimulate specific acupoints on the body.
Nowdays, many beauty salons offer cosmetic acupuncture, yet they often lack a true understanding of the underlying principles. Such practices, driven by trends, focus merely on the visible results or phenomena without grasping the underlying mechanisms or rationale. In reality, cosmetic acupuncture requires a holistic approach to internal regulation to achieve truly effective results.
Facial acupuncture must be performed by a qualified TCM practitioner; one should never attempt self-treatment or seek services from unqualified individuals, as this risks damaging facial blood vessels or nerves.
医疗针灸转美容针灸的现代演变：
现代面部针灸最初多用于治疗面部神经麻痹（面瘫）、中风后遗症以及面部肌肉不对称。在临床中，中医生意外发现，患者在恢复肌肉控制的同时，局部皮肤变得紧致、细纹减少。
其后，欧美学者将其从面瘫等医疗康复治疗进一步演变并推广至现代容貌保养领域。美容针灸也被系统化、科学化，发展成美颜针技术，使用的针也更细微。
美容针灸被称为“绿色疗法”，是因为它不用吃化学药，注射药物，也没有开刀手术，只用细针刺激身体的穴位。
现在很多美容院也施行美容针，但是她们只知其然，不知其所以然。盲目跟风的操作，只了解了结果或现象，但没有搞懂背后的原因或规律。实际上美容针灸还是需要配合整体的调理，才能真正的带出好效果。
