From Subang to Jakarta 🇲🇾🇮🇩

An elderly gentleman had travelled to Malaysia for his medical treatment, and after completing his treatment here, it was time to head back home to Jakarta for his continued follow up and recovery.

Our medevac team sprang into action, got everything coordinated, and we had a smooth journey to Jakarta.

Another patient safely closer to home, surrounded by the people and care that matter most.

Colombo, Sri Lanka - Our city of the week

Last week was a busy one for the AMG team, with three separate medical evacuations out of Colombo, for three different clients and three very different destinations:

🇺🇸 Colombo → Washington
🇵🇭 Colombo → Manila
🇭🇰 Colombo → Hong Kong

Our medical and operations teams were working on these cases back-to-back coordinating hospital teams, medical assessments, ground transportation, airline arrangements and all the moving pieces that come with getting a patient safely from one country to another.

What made the week even more rewarding was the opportunity to work closely with our new network partners in Sri Lanka. Strong local partnerships are an important part of what we do, especially when every case comes with its own challenges and timelines.

Three patients. Three destinations. Three different sets of logistics.

And most importantly, all three patients reached their destinations safely and reunited with their loved ones.

A big shout out to our medical and operations teams, our partners in Sri Lanka, the hospitals, ground ambulance teams and airline teams who worked alongside us throughout the week.

Wishing all three patients a smooth and speedy recovery and hoping they are now enjoying some well-deserved time back with their families.

We supported the transfer of a paraplegic patient from Manila to Atlanta, who required specialised medical assistance due to a pressure wound and a weight of 135kg.

Following a detailed assessment of the patient’s medical condition and travel requirements, the repatriation was carefully planned using a commercial airline stretcher arrangement to ensure a safe and comfortable journey.

After 18 hours of flight, the patient arrived safely in Atlanta and was reunited with family members, bringing a sense of relief after a challenging period.

One of our favourite types of medical repatriation is a combination of Air Ambulance and Commercial Airline Stretcher.

This case involved a patient recovering from a motor vehicle accident in Chiang Rai, Thailand, who needed to return home to Stuttgart, Germany for ongoing care and rehabilitation.

The journey started with an air ambulance transfer from Chiang Rai to Bangkok. After an overnight stay for medical stabilization, the patient continued the next day on a commercial airline stretcher to Stuttgart, accompanied by our dedicated AMG medical es**rt team.

A big shout out to our Operations Team and all our partners who made this transfer possible. Great teamwork always makes the difference.

Last week was a particularly busy one for our team across the Europe region.

Our medical es**rts completed back-to-back international repatriation missions, beginning with the transfer of a MVA patient from Kuala Lumpur to Barcelona. Shortly after arrival, the team proceeded directly to London for another critical care stretcher case involving a ventilated patient, whom we repatriated to Muscat via commercial airline.

It was a demanding week for everyone at our office and on the ground, but seeing patients reunited with their loved ones always makes the effort worthwhile.

A big appreciation to our medical es**rts, operations coordinators, airline partners, and healthcare teams involved throughout these missions.

AMG recently coordinated the repatriation of a young, warm, cheerful patient from Thailand to Warsaw following a psychotic disorder episode during her travels in Asia.

The patient was admitted to a local hospital in Thailand without any accompanying family members and had also lost her passport during the incident.

Upon receiving the case, AMG immediately deployed our colleague from our AMG Thailand office to assess the patient’s wellbeing, coordinate with the treating hospital, and provide reassurance to the family.

Over the following days, our team worked closely with all relevant parties to arrange the necessary travel documentation and medical clearance.

The patient was subsequently repatriated safely on a commercial airline accompanied by our medical es**rt throughout the journey back to Warsaw.

Not every medical evacuation requires an air ambulance. Sometimes, what matters most is having the right people behind the mission to assess the suitable mode of transfer.

Recently, our AMG team managed the evacuation of an injured vessel crew member from Kota Kinabalu to Surabaya via commercial airline stretcher arrangement.

From the very beginning, the case was handled fully by our in-house team, starting from hospital referral, daily medical monitoring, coordination with the airline, stretcher approval process, and finally the journey home.

The patient was finally reunited with his loved ones back in his hometown. Wishing the patient a smooth and speedy recovery ahead.

A mission that began in Tawau, Sabah ended in Berlin.

A young traveller, after a motorbike accident, spent weeks recovering before the question came, is he fit to go home?

That’s where we came in.

Operating out of Malaysia meant distance wasn’t a barrier. Even in a remote setting, we were able to quickly gather reliable medical insights, align with the treating doctors, and map out a safe journey.

The transfer was carried out on a commercial business class flight, supported by our medical es**rt from departure to arrival.

Quick one from the ops side.

This morning we completed a short haul medevac from Langkawi Island to Alor Setar, airborne time was just 17 minutes.

Ground transfer was actually possible, but would have taken a few hours. The client opted for air to save time, and we activated accordingly.

Aircraft used was Piaggio P.180 Avanti, ideal for short domestic sectors like this.

Quick mission, smooth coordination, patient transferred safely.

We recently had the privilege of safely repatriating an Australian patient who suffered a cerebral hemorrhage while in Hong Kong.

Following a comprehensive medical evaluation and multidisciplinary discussion, it was determined that the most appropriate and clinically safe option was a commercial airline stretcher transfer, supported by a dedicated critical care team.

The entire mission covered 13 hours bed-to-bed, with continuous monitoring, advanced airway and neurological observation, and contingency planning throughout the flight.

International repatriation, especially involving neurological cases such as cerebral hemorrhage, requires precise planning and experienced medical oversight. Choosing the right team is critical, families and partners should always ensure they are working with properly credentialed, licensed, and medically governed providers with transparent operational standards and proven case experience.

In complex cross-border transfers, safety is never an area for compromise.
