Pressing your tummy will NOT lift your uterus.
This is a very common myth, especially after delivery.
From an anatomical and medical perspective, the uterus is a deep pelvic organ.
It is supported by ligaments, fascia, and the pelvic floor muscles not by the surface of your abdominal skin.
So when someone:
• presses the tummy
• massages aggressively
• ties something tightly around the waist
they are not pushing the uterus up.
What actually happens instead 👇🏻
• Temporary compression of soft tissue
• Reduced blood flow if done excessively
• Increased pressure downward onto the pelvic floor
In some cases, repeated external pressure can worsen symptoms like:
• Pelvic heaviness
• Urine leaks
• Lower back or pelvic pain
Real uterine support comes from inside, not outside.
What truly helps:
✔ Pelvic floor muscle rehabilitation
✔ Proper breathing mechanics
✔ Deep core activation (transversus abdominis)
✔ Correct posture and movement patterns
The uterus naturally involutes (shrinks and returns to position) after birth.
Your job is to support the system, not force it.
