Is it a sunspot… or could it be melasma?
Not every pigmentation looks the same.
Sunspots and freckles are often small, well-defined and individual.
Melasma can look different — pigmentation may gradually become more diffuse, uneven, or merge into larger areas, especially around the cheeks, forehead, upper lip and other central facial areas.
There can also be a family tendency to develop melasma.
And melasma may involve pigmentation at different levels of the skin, which is one reason why simply treating what you see on the surface may not be enough.
The important question isn't only:
“How do I remove this spot?”
It's:
“What type of pigmentation am I dealing with, and why is it happening?”
Early assessment can help you understand your skin better and choose a more appropriate management approach.
At Dr Kyo Clinic, we look beyond the visible pigmentation.
Don't just treat the spots.
Understand why they are there.
