💪 Recovering slower after exercise? Feeling weaker during sports or more tired when climbing stairs and walking?

These may not just be part of “normal ageing” — they could be early signs of muscle loss, also known as sarcopenia. Muscle loss can begin as early as our 30s and may gradually affect strength, stamina, balance, and daily activities over time.

The good news? ✅
Regular exercise, strength training, staying active, and getting enough protein can help maintain muscle strength and slow down muscle loss as we age.

As we age, muscle strength, balance, flexibility, and endurance may decrease.
Some older adults may also feel afraid of falling, causing them to walk more slowly and carefully. This can affect mobility, confidence, and independence in daily life.

Physiotherapy can help improve walking speed through strength, balance, and gait training, helping older adults move safer and more confidently.

Falls are common among older adults, with about 8 in 100 experiencing a fall each year, while some may experience repeated falls.

Common causes include muscle weakness, poor balance, slower reaction time, and reduced mobility.

Physiotherapy can help reduce fall risk through exercises to improve strength, balance, walking confidence, and overall mobility.
Proper footwear advice, walking aid recommendations, and personalised rehabilitation can also help older adults stay active and safe.

Falls are not a normal part of ageing — many falls can be prevented with the right care and exercise.

为什么长者容易跌倒?

跌倒在长者中其实很常见,大约每100位长者中就有8位每年会跌倒,而部分人士甚至会重复跌倒。常见原因包括肌力下降、平衡能力变差、反应变慢,以及活动能力下降。
