The Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) Pahang Branch extends our deepest and most heartfelt condolences on the passing of Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah binti Mohamad Ali.

Tun Dr. Siti Hasmah leaves behind an extraordinary legacy as a trailblazing medical professional. As one of the first Malay women to qualify as a medical doctor in the country, she dedicated her early career to public service as a government medical officer in Kedah. She was a passionate champion for maternal and child health, working tirelessly to improve medical access for rural communities. Beyond her distinguished clinical career, she was a beloved national figure who used her platform to advocate for public health, women's empowerment, and her hands-on work laid vital foundations for Malaysia's modern healthcare infrastructure.

We extend our most heartfelt sympathies and prayers to YABhg. Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, their children, and the entire family during this profoundly difficult time. May Allah SWT grant strength, comfort, and patience to the family in navigating this immense loss.

Her pioneering spirit and lifelong dedication to healthcare will forever inspire the medical fraternity. May her soul be blessed and placed among the righteous.

MMA Pahang extends our deepest condolences to the families of the five individuals who lost their lives in the Flying Doctor Service helicopter crash in Sarawak. We mourn the loss of Dr. Ainul, the Medical Assistant, the two nurses, and the pilot, who dedicated their lives to serving rural communities.

Moving forward, a thorough evaluation of safety standards for medical transport is essential to ensure the protection of our healthcare workers.
May they rest in peace.

We note the recent affirmation by LHDN that fees paid for recognised postgraduate specialist examinations—including MRCP, MRCOG, MRCPCH, and MRCPsych—are eligible for income tax relief under the Income Tax Act 1967.

This development provides meaningful support to medical practitioners pursuing specialist qualifications and reflects a positive step in easing associated financial commitments.

Credit to the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) for its advocacy efforts in bringing this matter forward.
