Many women notice changes in va**nal discharge during early pregnancy, and this is often completely normal. Here are some common signs of pregnancy-related discharge (leukorrhea):
• It is usually light white, creamy, or clear in color and may look similar to diluted milk.
• The discharge often has little to no odor. A strong, unpleasant, or fishy smell is not considered normal and may suggest an infection.
• You may notice more wetness than usual because the body produces extra discharge to help keep the va**na and cervix protected from germs.
• The texture can be smooth, slippery, or slightly stretchy at times, much like the discharge seen around ovulation.
• Healthy pregnancy discharge should not cause itching, burning, swelling, or irritation. Those symptoms should be checked by a healthcare professional.
• In very early pregnancy, some women may notice light pink or brown spotting, known as implantation spotting, when the fertilized egg attaches to the uterus.
• Unlike regular cycle discharge that changes throughout the month, pregnancy discharge often remains steady or gradually increases as pregnancy progresses.
NOTE:
Keep in mind that discharge alone cannot confirm pregnancy. The best way to know for sure is through a pregnancy test and proper medical confirmation.
