Breakthrough on the Horizon: Pharmacy Technicians Edge Closer to Direct Entry University Access

MUBI, ADAMAWA STATE — In a landmark development set to reshape the landscape of healthcare education in Nigeria, the Reformed Forum of Pharmacy Technicians in Nigeria (RFPTN), Adamawa State Chapter, has announced major progress regarding the proposed Direct Entry (DE) program for pharmacy technicians.

This breakthrough emerged following a high-level strategic summit between the leadership of RFPTN Adamawa State and key academic authorities at the prestigious College of Health Technology, Mubi. The high-stakes meeting—convened to forge a united front for healthcare advancement—brought together the State Executive Council of RFPTN, the College Provost, the Deputy Provost, and the Head of the Department of Pharmacy Technician.

Discussions centered on bridging the gap between classroom training and industry practice, elevating academic standards, and safeguarding the future of pharmacy technology education across the state and the nation.

A Turning Point for Higher Education

The focal point of the engagement centered on the long-awaited deliberations by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) regarding the integration of a Direct Entry (DE) pathway for qualified pharmacy technicians. In an inspiring update delivered during the session, College management revealed that the extensive review process by the NBTE is rapidly approaching its final stages. Officials expressed profound optimism that a favorable policy decision will soon be formalized, opening doors for pharmacy technicians to advance their academic careers directly into university degree programs.

Reacting to the news, the leadership of RFPTN hailed the update as a historic milestone for healthcare professionals. "This is a monumental stride for the pharmacy technician cadre," stated Comr. Moses Thomas, State Chairman of RFPTN Adamawa State. "For too long, our members have faced academic glass ceilings. The imminent approval of the Direct Entry program by the NBTE will not only validate the rigorous training our professionals undergo but will also empower them to attain the highest echelons of academic and professional excellence."

The Association reaffirmed its unwavering support for every legitimate, progressive framework designed to uplift the standards of training and professional practice in the health sector.

A Shared Vision for Healthcare Excellence

The meeting concluded with mutual commitments to foster closer institutional partnerships. The State Executive Council expressed deep gratitude to the Provost, the Head of the Department of Pharmacy Technician, and the entire management team of the College of Health Technology, Mubi, for their warm hospitality, visionary insights, and proactive stance on student and professional welfare.

As healthcare delivery evolves globally, RFPTN Adamawa State Chapter remains steadfast in its mandate: championing robust academic partnerships, fostering uncompromising professional standards, and fiercely advocating for policies that guarantee a thriving future for pharmacy technicians in Nigeria and beyond.
