Africa has a growing outbreak burden: 31 public health emergencies were managed by WHO AFRO in 2024–2025, while cholera alone recorded 150,156 cases and 2,853 deaths across 18 African countries in 2024.

Behind these numbers lie critical questions we must answer to protect our continent:

What factors are responsible? Where does it all start from? Who is responsible for coordinating the research? How can you be a part of the outbreak elimination movement?
