How a Newborn Baby Boy Was Allegedly Stolen in Gboko Today

It is no longer news that a bouncing baby boy who was delivered in the early hours of today, 11th August, 2026, reportedly went missing shortly after delivery.

According to a reliable source who requested anonymity, immediately after the baby was born, the infant did not cry as expected. The nurse on duty (names withheld) reportedly intervened to calm the situation, and the newborn eventually appeared to respond normally.

Thereafter, both the mother and the baby were taken to an undisclosed ward for further care.

Not long after, an alleged child trafficker approached the mother of the newborn under the pretence of being one of the nurses. The suspect claimed they wanted to check the baby once again, and the woman obliged.

The trafficker then took the baby from the mother and headed toward the labour room. Sensing something amiss, the mother-in-law who had been with her daughter-in-law (the newborn’s mother) followed and stood at the labour room’s entrance. However, she was instructed to step back, with assurances that everything would be fine; so she complied.

Shortly afterwards, the newborn baby boy was nowhere to be found. The nurses on duty denied ever going to the ward to retrieve the baby from the mother, and they also insisted that the alleged trafficker who posed as a nurse was not among their team.

Heartbroken and distraught, family members and well-wishers flooded the popular Division Hospital, Gboko, causing intense tension as the facility became crowded with people who came to show solidarity with the mother.

Without further delay, security operatives moved in, stormed the hospital premises, and brought the situation under control.

As at the time of this report, men of the Nigeria Police Force have allegedly taken over the facility to prevent escalation of the incident. The nurses on duty, including the in-charge, were reportedly taken to an unknown police station for questioning.

The public is therefore urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movement to the nearest law enforcement agency without delay.
