WAEC Don Finish, Uniform Don Tear, Future Don Secure? ๐ค
Children of nowadays are built differently. Very differently.
I was scrolling through videos of secondary school students celebrating after WAEC and my jaw nearly touched the floor.
DONE AND DUSTED, they call it.
The one that shocked me the most was seeing students partying wil*dly, dancing seduc*tively, screaming at the top of their voices and even te@ring their school uniforms as if they had just won the World Cup.
I just shook my head and remembered our own days.
Back then, after writing WAEC, your heart would still be beating like talking drum.
You were not celebrating anything yet because you didn't know whether the exam answered you or you answered the exam. ๐
Then comes the day someone whispers:
"WAEC result is out!"
Immediately, fear will grip your soul.
Even buying the WAEC scratch card to check your result felt like entering a lion's den.
But these Gen-Z children?
They no send.
Some of them are already chasing quick money before they even know what they want to become in life.
A 16-year-old is shouting "My man."
A 17-year-old is talking about relationship goals.
An 18-year-old already wants soft life without hard work.
The girls still try small, but many of the boys these days don't even want to learn a skill.
Everybody wants fast money.
The culture of apprenticeship is fading.
Learning a trade is now seen as old-fashioned.
"HK" is trending.
"Igba Boy" is becoming unpopular.
Sometimes I wonder...
Twenty years from now, who will repair our generators, fridges, air conditioners and televisions?
Who will build the businesses?
Who will pass down practical skills?
Every generation has its own challenges but one thing remains true:
A society that abandons hard work, discipline and skill acquisition is preparing a bill that the future must pay.
Maybe I'm getting old.
Maybe things are simply changing.
Or maybe some changes should make us stop and think.
Nwanne, church agbasago. ๐ฉ
What do you think?
Are today's teenagers simply enjoying life more than we did or are we gradually losing important values as a society?
Let's discuss. ๐
