On this Workers' Day, we must talk about TB and Nigeria's workforce.

Tuberculosis remains one of the greatest threats to Nigeria's human capital. With nearly 499,000 cases and 71,000 deaths recorded annually, TB disproportionately strikes working-age adults — the very people powering our economy. The economic toll is staggering.

Every ₦1 invested in TB treatment yields a ₦43 return in economic productivity. Yet today, only 30% of Nigeria's TB financing needs are being met, and about 25% is external funding.

On this International Workers' Day, Stop TB Partnership Nigeria calls on corporate leaders, philanthropists, and development partners to invest in the health of our workforce — because a Nigeria free of TB is a Nigeria that thrives and prospers.

Working together, we can end this epidemic.

Saturday, 28th March 2026, Kebbi State marked the World TB Day 2026 with the theme “Yes! We can End TB, Led By Country, Powered By People,” with a show of commitment and community action.

The day began with an advocacy walk to the Government House, led by Her Excellency, Hajiya Zainab Nasare, First Lady of Kebbi State and State Stop TB Championns, symbolizing strong leadership in the fight against tuberculosis.

A major highlight was the investiture and decoration of 21 LGA Chairmen’s wives as TB Champions, empowering them to drive awareness, support case finding, and promote treatment adherence at the grassroots level. The event held at the Kebbi State Government House, Kebbi, reinforced a shared commitment to ending TB.

Stop TB Partnership Nigeria expressed our profound appreciation to Her Excellency for the inauguration of the LGA TB Champions which marks an important milestone in decentralising TB advocacy and strengthening community ownership of the response in Kebbi State.

_Join the Fight Against TB!_ Today, we mark World Tuberculosis Day 2026! 😊 TB is preventable, treatable, and curable, yet it remains a serious public health challenge in Nigeria. Let's reaffirm our commitment to:
- Increase awareness and reduce stigma around TB
- Expand access to early diagnosis and effective treatment
- Strengthen community engagement and support systems
- Advocate for sustained funding and policy action

Our 2026 theme, led by the Federal Ministry of Health, focuses on community-driven efforts to identify symptoms early and dismantle stigma. We're shifting the fight to neighborhoods, leveraging strong community networks and equipping Primary Health Care centers to test and treat effectively. Our goal: leave no one behind and close the gap on "missing millions" in remote areas.

We must find, treat, and cure every person with TB—leaving no one behind. Together, we can end TB. Together, we can save lives.
