Theme: Prioritise Breastfeeding: Create Sustainable Support Systems

Today marks the beginning of World Breastfeeding Week (August 1–7), a global campaign dedicated to promoting, protecting, and supporting breastfeeding for every mother and every child.

Breastfeeding is more than just feeding a baby, it is one of the most powerful ways to give a child the healthiest possible start in life. Breast milk provides complete nutrition, strengthens a baby's immune system, supports healthy brain development, and creates a unique bond between mother and child. Mothers also benefit through improved recovery after childbirth and long-term health advantages.

However, successful breastfeeding requires support not only from mothers, but also from fathers, families, healthcare professionals, employers, communities, and governments.

Over the next 7 days, I'll be sharing simple, evidence-based posts, illustrations, and practical tips to help you better understand breastfeeding. Anticipate!
