NOBODY TALKS ENOUGH ABOUT THIS SIDE OF ULCER…

Sometimes, it is not even the pain that gets to you the most.

It is the way ulcer symptoms can slowly start controlling your life.

You begin to plan your day around your stomach.

You wake up wondering, “How is my stomach today?”

Before eating anything, you start thinking, “Will this food trigger the pain?”

You are hungry, but you are afraid to eat because the last meal you ate gave you serious discomfort.

You go out and start looking for what you can eat because you don't want to stay hungry for too long.

You attend an occasion and instead of enjoying yourself, you are busy calculating what you can eat and what you should avoid.

Sometimes, you even become afraid of sleeping because you don't want to wake up in the middle of the night with that terrible burning or discomfort again.

And gradually, something happens…

YOU START FEELING LIKE YOUR STOMACH IS IN CHARGE OF YOUR LIFE.

Now it's at this point that many things will begin to happen.

_ Friends who may have never had this experience will tell you to eat everything.

_Remedies will be coming from left and right.

_Even you may get tired of yourself and begin to become interested in healing. " Let Just survive the moment" you may say

Dear friend, this is where more dedication to healing and carefulness matters.

A little more patience and commitment.

If you ask around, this journey has never been a days ' journey. It has always required time and patience.

*You must be careful with your foods, enjoying now and being in pains later will not do you good, so as depending on Omeprazole after a bad meal choice

* Do that little thing you know that's working for
You

* You must not buy or use all remedies you see or hear of

*This illness will soon be a history but for the time being, keep on keeping on.

YOU WILL BE FINE

SO, WHAT CAN YOU DO WHEN THIS HEADACHE KEEPS COMING BACK?

If you read my last post, you will remember that I said something very important:

Not every headache you experience when you have ulcer is necessarily from the ulcer.

You need to first look at the pattern.

But let's assume you have noticed that your headache usually comes when you stay hungry for too long, when your reflux is acting up, when you are stressed or when you haven't taken enough water.

What then can you do?

First thing first...

1)STOP ALLOWING YOURSELF TO GET EXTREMELY HUNGRY.

I know life can be very busy.

You wake up in the morning, start doing one thing, then another thing, and before you know it, it's 4pm and you are just remembering that you haven't eaten.

Your stomach has been shouting since 11am, but you were busy telling it, “I will eat soon.”

Please don't make this a habit if you already know that prolonged hunger triggers your sym

I'm simply means you shouldn't deliberately stay without food for very long periods when you already know that hunger triggers your symptoms.

2. DON'T WAIT UNTIL YOU ARE EXTREMELY THIRSTY BEFORE DRINKING WATER.

Dehydration can also trigger headaches.

So if you are the type that can go from morning till evening without remembering water, you need to change that habit.
Moreover, if you know how much water can help you on this journey, you wouldn't wait until you are told to do so.

DRINK WATER!!!

3. WATCH YOUR REFLUX TRIGGERS.

If you have noticed that your headache tends to come whenever your reflux becomes severe, don't ignore the reflux.

Pay attention to what triggers it.

Large meals, lying down immediately after eating, certain foods, alcohol, smoking and other individual triggers can make reflux worse.

Know your own triggers.

4. TAKE STRESS SERIOUSLY.

This one is not as easy as saying “don't stress.”

Because sometimes, na life dey stress person.

But if you already know that stressful days usually come with your headache and stomach symptoms, then you need to find ways to reduce unnecessary stress and give your body enough rest.

I already told us that what may seem stress-free for someone may be a big stressor to you so watch it.

5) SLEEP
Are you getting enough sleep. With or without ulcer, lack of sleep will not just give you headache, it will disorganize the whole body. You can't be yourself without enough sleep.

If you find it hard to sleep,
Try eating bananas towards evening, some do suggest boiling the peel and drinking the water but I tell you be careful, it may trigger you.

Magnesium glycinate may be of help.

Most importantly,

6)KEEP THE BP IN CHECK
Unstable blood pressure most times comes with headache and even sleeplessness. And the issue for some people is once the ulcer is triggered the Bp will begin to rise.

Monitor your numbers and make sure that your BP medications aren't the type that worsen/ trigger ulcer.

And note,
It's more about understanding your body and learning how to help it.

Only you can understand yourself better.

Small, small,

Like play like play

Ulcer and it's wahala will be a thing of the past.

DO YOU EVER FEEL SOMETHING MOVING INSIDE YOUR STOMACH?

You are just sitting down quietly and suddenly you feel something moving inside your stomach.

Sometimes it feels like something is turning.

Sometimes like something is crawling.

Sometimes you will even see the stomach move or feel a particular spot jumping and you start wondering…

“What exactly is moving inside me?”

And because of the things we hear around us, the first thought for many people is:

“Could it be worms?”

Not necessarily.

For many people, once they feel this movement, the next thing they do is deworm.

Someone told me she deworms the family EVERY MONTH!!! imagine that.

Please, don't make deworming your first response to every strange movement you feel in your abdomen.

Remember that taking deworming medicines unnecessarily or too frequently can expose you to medication side effects without actually treating the cause of what you are feeling.

Your digestive system is not a quiet place.

A lot of movement happens inside your abdomen every day, and most times, you are simply becoming more aware of normal movements that have always been happening.

Your intestines constantly contract and relax to move food, liquid and gas through the digestive tract.

That movement is called peristalsis.

Gas moving through the intestines can also give you that strange feeling of something shifting, rolling or moving inside.

Sometimes what you are feeling may simply be your intestines doing their job.

And yes, when you are bloated, constipated, after eating a large meal, or when there is a lot of gas in your digestive tract, these sensations can become much more noticeable.

But here is where I want you to be careful.

Feeling movement inside your abdomen does not automatically mean you have worms.

Please don't start taking deworming medicines every time you feel something move in your stomach.

At the same time, if the sensation is persistent or comes with severe abdominal pain, repeated vomiting, significant swelling of the abdomen, blood in your poo, then you need to it checked

Your body gives you different sensations every day.

Not every strange sensation means something is seriously wrong.

Sometimes, your body is simply doing what it is supposed to do but If you always feel you need to deworm again and again, please don't make deworming your solution every time. Something needs to be looked into—your food, hygiene, environment or possible repeated exposure.

I got this honest review from one of my clients yesterday during consultation.

He told me his ulcer initially do come with very serious palpitations, according to him, that's one of the worst signs he has ever experienced.

It has continued that way until he stumbled into my page and saw my posts where I warned severally about late night meals and making sure you sit up for few hours before bedtime.

He said that was all he could remember he did that helped him with the palpitations.

JUST AVOIDING NIGHT MEALS.

I don't know how many more times I should explain this, yet many are still suffering.

A lady told me she has been fine all along but only went back to chest pain and palpitations after helping a baker friend of hers prepare meat pie for someone's birthday.

After eating the meat pie, she's back to her old complaint again.

Many till date don't believe in these little things that can help.

That thing you think is harmless may be one of the reasons you wake up with discomfort, chest burning, palpitations or that uncomfortable feeling in your chest.

And please, don't get me wrong.

I am NOT saying that every palpitation or chest pain is caused by ulcer or reflux.

But once it has been established that yours is caused by ulcer then....

What I am saying is that if you have noticed a consistent pattern between certain foods, late meals and your symptoms, PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO THAT PATTERN.

Your body may be trying to tell you something.

Sometimes the advice that sounds too simple is actually the advice you have been ignoring.

Don't underestimate the little things

Many don't believe something can help unless it's
Expensive or Awkward.

If not tell me why someone will believe more interested in Urine , Rotten okra water , infact let me not mention the other one, Than something as simple as

_Avoid late night meal
_Sit up for sometime after eating before bed
_Drink warm water in then plenty water throughout the day etc

YOUR MEDICATION CAN HELP YOU HEAL, BUT YOUR DAILY HABITS CAN EITHER SUPPORT THAT HEALING OR KEEP FIGHTING AGAINST IT.

Sometimes, that "little thing" you have refused to take seriously may be the missing piece.

Listen to your body.

Pay attention to your triggers.

And stop waiting until the symptoms become unbearable before you make changes.

NOW LISTEN
Your thought process and belief can affect you at every stage of life, when you are healthy, when you are sick, when you are in need and infact, everything in general.

You see, this illness can honestly be very challenging in many aspects, but will you give up because of it?

NO!!!

Staying positive and helping your mind tune towards healing will go a long way.

WHAT THEN CAN YOU DO TO STAY POSITIVE?

1. PROTECT YOUR MIND

This does not in any way imply that you should ignore your health, but must it be negative?

Since someone made a post on how ulcer can cause cancer, many are no longer themselves.

Even those who were almost healed are now living in fear and anxiety.

What am I saying?

Do your best to achieve healing, but most importantly, PROTECT YOUR MIND!!!

Not every information you see online is meant to become your new fear.

Learn to ask questions.

Learn to understand what applies to you and what doesn't.

Learn to separate possibility from probability.

Yes, some stomach conditions can increase the risk of serious complications when they are left untreated for a long time. That is why proper diagnosis, treatment and follow-up are important.

But hearing that something can happen does not mean it will happen to you.

Please don't allow one scary post to erase all the progress you have made.

2. STOP CONSTANTLY CHECKING YOUR BODY

When you are afraid, every little sensation begins to look like a warning sign.

A little burning?

"Cancer?"

A little stomach discomfort?

"Maybe something is wrong."

One day without perfect bowel movement?

"Is my ulcer getting worse?"

Before you know it, you are monitoring yourself every minute.

Please, breathe.

Your stomach will not feel exactly the same every single day.

Healing is not always a straight line. How many times will say this?

There can be good days and not-so-good days.

3. FOCUS ON WHAT YOU CAN CONTROL

You cannot control everything about your body.

But you can control whether you take your treatment correctly.

You can control your food choices.

You can control your stress level at to some extent

You can control whether you seek medical attention when something is persistent or unusual.

And you can control the kind of information you allow into your mind every day.

Focus on these things.

4. DON'T MAKE YOURSELF SICK WITH FEAR

There are people whose symptoms have actually reduced significantly, but they cannot enjoy the improvement because they are constantly waiting for something terrible to happen.

You are no longer eating peacefully.

You are no longer sleeping peacefully.

Every stomach sensation scares you.

Every social media post sends you into panic.

Please don't do this to yourself.

Your mind needs rest too.

Rest does not mean you are careless about your health.

It means you are refusing to live in fear while you are doing everything within your power to get better.

5. GIVE YOURSELF PERMISSION TO HEAL

Sometimes, you need to stop telling yourself,

"What if I don't get better?"

And start telling yourself,

"I am doing what I can, and I will take this one day at a time."

You don't have to figure out your entire healing journey in one day.

Take your treatment.

Eat appropriately.

Avoid your known triggers.

Keep your appointments when necessary.

Ask questions when you are confused.

And allow your body the time it needs to recover.

MOST IMPORTANTLY, DON'T GIVE UP ON YOURSELF.

Ulcer, gastritis, reflux and other stomach problems can be frustrating.

I know.

There are days you will feel tired of everything.

There are days you will wonder, "When will this finally end?"

But please remember that a difficult day is not the same thing as a hopeless situation.

Keep going.

Keep learning.

Keep treating the actual problem.

Keep your mind protected.

And please, don't let fear steal the little moments of healing you are already experiencing.

YOU ARE NOT YOUR ILLNESS.

And this illness does not get to decide how the rest of your life will look.

WHAT MORE CAN I SAY?

YOU'LL BE FINE!!!
