The Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Center (NPF-NCCC) has arrested a mother and her daughter over alleged romance scam that defrauded a Malta-based victim of more than N18m.

Ag. Police Public Liaison Officer, NPF-NCCC, Abuja, DSP Unwana Imah, who disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 identified the suspects as 39-year-old Urowhe Diana and her daughter, Rokibat Oluwasheyi Imoru,22.

According to the statement,

“The Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Center (NPF-NCCC) is currently investigating a case involving Computer Related Fraud, Identity Theft, and Money Laundering following an intelligence report received from the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU),” the statement read. Preliminary investigations revealed that one Emmanuel Amanfo ‘M’, a resident of Lagos State who is currently at large, allegedly conspired with his 22 years old stepdaughter, Rokibat Oluwasheyi Imoru to open and operate multiple bank accounts for fraudulent activities.

One of their victims was identified as a resident of Malta (name withheld). Further investigations showed that funds of were transferred through Money Transfer Operators and direct deposits into several Nigerian bank accounts, all owned by Rokibat Imoru. Upon receipt, the funds were transferred into an Ecobank account belonging to her 39 years old mother, Urowhe Diana, where the proceeds were allegedly expended.

Following forensic analysis of the suspects’ digital footprints, the mother and daughter were arrested for their active involvement in a romance scam operation.

Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect, Emmanuel Amanfo, who is the husband of Urowhe Diana and step-father of Rokibat Oluwasheyi Imoru.

“Investigation into the matter is still ongoing, and the suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.”

Police arrest chef for drugging his employee and carting away luxury items worth N150m

The Nigeria Police Force has arrested one John Cosmos Govi, over his involvement in a case of criminal conspiracy, housebreaking, administering suspected harmful substances, malicious damage to property, and theft involving the robbery of luxury items and valuables from a residence in Abuja.

According to the police PRO, ACP Anthony Placid, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect, who reportedly trained at a catering school in Cotonou, Benin Republic, secured employment as a chef within the residence after establishing contact with two accomplices identified as Peter and Moses, both currently at large. Findings indicate that the suspect carefully studied the routine, movements, and security structure of the residence before executing the operation on 23rd April 2026.

‘’Further investigations established that food prepared within the residence was laced with a suspected sedative substance intended to incapacitate the occupants and security personnel. After the substance took effect, the suspect facilitated the entry of his accomplices into the residence, where the gang vandalised the CCTV monitoring system, ransacked the apartment, and carted away cash alongside twenty luxury wristwatches valued at approximately One Hundred and Fifty Million Naira (N150,000,000).’’

Placid said operatives of the FID-IRT subsequently intercepted the suspects while attempting to flee through the Gwagwalada axis en route Lagos. He said that during the operation, an iPhone 17 Pro Max belonging to the victim was recovered alongside a suspected chemical substance, which has since been forwarded for forensic analysis.

Son murders his billionaire dad in Abuja 💔

Billionaire businessman Chief Godwin Chinedu Adimike was murdered at his residence, Number 3 Hassan Adamu Street, Guzape, Abuja, by his 21-year-old son, a serving NYSC member, on Friday, May 15, 2026.

Godwin, popularly known as Egonaejeije Na Awka-Etiti, was killed in the early hours of that day at his home in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

He was stabbed multiple times by his son after a heated argument.

His son confronted him about being stingy with money, citing how some of his friends' fathers, who were not as wealthy, bought cars for their children.

The deceased had earlier accused his son of being extravagant and mismanaging funds from the real estate business he Is managing for him in Abuja.

Following the argument, his son stabbed him thrice, and he died on the spot.

It was reported that on that fateful day, his son had returned from a club with two ladies.

He is currently in police custody.

Adimike, a native of Awka Etiti in Anambra State, was a major figure in Nigeria's electronics and import business, renowned for his strong presence and influence at the Alaba International Market in Lagos.

Having built a vast business empire over the decades, he was widely respected as one of the leading merchants in the popular market.

He was also involved in real estate, being one of the biggest real estate players in Abuja and Lagos.

A 29-year-old Sociology graduate of the Kogi State University, Blessing Moshood, was m8rdered and her body dumped in a canal in Jikwoyi, Abuja.

Speaking with Daily Trust on Sunday, May 24, 2026, a sister of the deceased, Abigail Moshood, said Blessing left their home around 8pm on Thursday, after speaking with someone on the phone.

Abigail said the deceased later called about an hour later, saying she would be returning home briefly to pick up her phone charger which she had forgotten.

said the family became worried after they did not hear from Blessing again and she failed to return home the following day.

“We later heard people talking about the body of a woman discovered inside a canal, and someone described the type of hairstyle the deceased had on, which matched my sister’s,” she said.

“My mother started crying, and we also learnt that policemen from the Jikwoyi Police Station had evacuated the co**se, which was found half-naked with only a top on, to a mortuary in Mararaba, Nasarawa State.

Abigail said she later visited the Jikwoyi Police Station to inquire about the incident and was shown photographs of the deceased.

FCT Police Command spokesperson, SP Josephine, confirmed the incident, adding that investigation into the case is ongoing.

Court Sentences Church Usher to D+ath for Taking His Girlfriend’s Life in Uyo

A High Court in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, has sentenced 33-year-old Ndifreke Isaiah Nelson to d+ath for the m¥rder of his girlfriend, Emem Monday Effanga.

Nelson was convicted on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, after the court found him guilty on a two-count charge bordering on m¥rder and st£aling.

The convict, said to be an usher in a new-generation church in Uyo, reportedly k+lled Effanga, a makeup artist, before fleeing with her phone.

According to reports, the incident happened around 7am on February 6, 2025, which was also Nelson’s birthday.

He had allegedly visited Effanga at her residence on Aka Road, Uyo, to use her phone to upload his birthday photos on social media. However, things reportedly turned v+olent after a struggle over the phone.

Nelson was said to have sl+mmed the deceased’s head against the wall before str@ngling her to d+ath. He then escaped with her phone after committing the crime.

Two days later, on February 8, 2025, security operatives tracked him to a church on Nsikak Eduok Avenue during a night vigil programme around 2am.

During interrogation, Nelson reportedly confessed to the crime.

Delivering judgment, Justice Ekpo Ntekim sentenced him to d+ath by h@nging or l£thal injection for the m¥rder charge, noting that the p¥nishment for st£aling was already covered by the main sentence.

Police have arrested a man and his son for allegedly kidnapp!ng their elderly father, Alhaji Rabo Jelani, twice and collecting N6.5 million in ransom.

The suspects are Yusuf Rabo (the victim’s son) and Ali Haruna (the victim’s grandson). Ali is also accused of supplying an AK-47 rifle used in the abductions.
