Your body can literally be crying for water, and you may think something else is wrong!
If you’ve been feeling tired, getting headaches, your mouth is always dry, or your urine is looking very dark, please don’t ignore these signs.
Your body may be telling you, “Please, I need water!”
Here are 7 signs your body may need more water:
1. Your urine is very dark
If your urine is dark yellow and has a strong smell, it can be a sign that you need more fluids. Pale yellow urine is generally a better sign that you’re well hydrated.
2. You keep getting headaches
Not every headache is caused by dehydration, but not drinking enough water can contribute to headaches in some people.
3. Your mouth and lips feel dry
If you constantly feel like your mouth is dry or your lips are becoming dry and cracked, try drinking some water.
4. You feel tired and weak
Sometimes, when you haven’t had enough fluids, you may feel unusually tired, weak or low on energy.
5. You feel dizzy when you stand up
Dehydration can sometimes make you feel light-headed or dizzy, especially when you stand up.
6. You are very thirsty
This sounds obvious, but if you are constantly feeling thirsty, your body may be asking you to replace lost fluids.
7. You are urinating much less than usual
If you notice that you’re going for long periods without urinating, especially together with dark urine and thirst, you may not be getting enough fluids.
Please remember: You don’t have to wait until you are extremely thirsty before drinking water. Drink fluids regularly, especially when the weather is hot, you are exercising, or you are losing fluids through vomiting or diarrhoea.
And if you have severe dizziness, confusion, fainting, or you cannot keep fluids down, seek medical care urgently.
