WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT HERPES SIMPLEX INFECTIONS
HERPES SIMPLEX INFECTION is a super-common infection that stays in your body. Herpes can be annoying and painfu. Herpes results from infection with the HERPES SIMPLEX VIRUS (HSV). It causes sores or blisters to form in or around the mouth or the male & female ge****ls, as well as other symptoms.
HERPES SIMPLEX VIRUS TYPE-1 (HSV-1): Primarily causes oral herpes, and is generally responsible for cold sores and fever blisters around the mouth and on the face.
HERPES SIMPLEX VIRUS
TYPE-2 (HSV-2): Primarily causes ge***al herpes, and is generally responsible for ge***al herpes outbreaks.
WHAT ARE THE CAUSES OF HERPES SIMPLEX
HERPES SIMPLEX VIRUS is a contagious virus that can be transmitted from person to person through direct contact. Children will often contract HSV-1 from early contact with an adult who has an infection. They then carry the virus with them for so long without an excellent treatment. Pregnant women with ge***al herpes should talk to their doctor, as ge***al herpes can be passed on to the baby during childbirth
HERPES SIMPLEX VIRUS TYPE-1 (HSV-1)
HERPES SIMPLEX VIRUS TYPE-1, HSV-1 can be transmitted through oral secretions or contracted from general interactions such as:
Eating with the same Utensils with an infected person
Sharing Lip balm and other facial cosmetics
Kissing
The virus spreads more quickly during an outbreak. An estimated 67 percent of people between age 49 and younger are Seropositive for HSV-1, though they may never experience an outbreak. It’s also possible to get ge***al herpes from HSV-1 if someone who performed oral s*x had cold sores during that period.
HERPES SIMPLEX VIRUS TYPE-2 (HSV-2)
HERPES SIMPLEX VIRUS TYPE-2, HSV-2 is contracted through any forms of s*xual contact with a person who has HSV-2. HSV-2 infections are spread through contact with a herpes Sore. In contrast, most people get HSV-1 from a person with an infection who is asymptomatic, or does not have sores. HSV is a common virus.
WHO IS AT RISK OF DEVELOPING HERPES SIMPLEX INFECTIONS?
Anyone can contract HERPES SIMPLEX INFECTIONS, regardless of age. Your risk is based almost entirely on exposure to an Infected person. HERPES is more common in women than in men. But the infection spreads from men to women more easily. The risk is highest among teens and young adults who are more likely to take risks during s*x. In cases of s*xually transmitted HSV, that is the HSV-2, people are more at risk when they have unprotected s*xual in*******se or other barrier methods.
Other risk factors for HSV-2 include:
Having multiple s*x partners
Having HIV INFECTION or other health problem that render the body system less immune to infections.
Having s*x at a younger age
Having another s*xually transmitted infection (STI)
Having a weakened immune system
If a pregnant woman is having an outbreak of ge***al herpes at the time of childbirth, it can expose the baby to both categories of HERPES SIMPLEX VIRUS, and may put them at risk for serious complications afterwards.
NOTE: HERPES SIMPLEX VIRUS TYPE-2, HSV-2 can’t be easily seen. You can’t tell if someone has it because in this case, the infection affects the male & female ge****ls and the regions around the ge***al and it can spread from person to person without their knowledge.
