VENERATION OF THE CROSS ON GOOD FRIDAY: A CALL FOR APPRECIATION AND FAITH IN THE POWER OF CHRIST'S SACRIFICE

Catholics venerate the Cross on Good Friday as a profound act of reverence for the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. This practice is central to the Good Friday liturgy and involves a ceremony where the Cross is presented to the congregation for veneration.

The following points help us understand and appreciate this veneration:

1. Commemoration of Christ’s Sacrifice: Good Friday marks the day of Christ's crucifixion. Venerating the Cross serves as a poignant reminder of the suffering and death Jesus endured for the redemption of humanity.

2. Symbol of Salvation: The Cross represents not only suffering but also hope and salvation. By venerating it, Catholics acknowledge the central role it plays in their faith—the belief that through Jesus's death, sin and death were conquered.

3. Personal Reflection: This act allows believers to reflect deeply on their faith and the meaning of sacrifice. It encourages them to contemplate their relationship with Christ and the implications of his actions.

4. Expression of Faith and Gratitude: Venerating the Cross is a way for the faithful to express their love, respect, and gratitude for Jesus's gift of salvation. It signifies a personal connection to the suffering of Christ.

5. Community Worship: The communal aspect of the veneration reinforces the shared faith and collective remembrance of Jesus's Passion, fostering a sense of unity among believers.

The veneration of the Cross, therefore, on Good Friday is a vital expression of Catholic faith, reflecting on sacrifice, love, and the hope of resurrection.

I wish you a spirit- filled Good Friday devotion and celebration.

The Lord said, "It's finished!"
It means we're now free from the slavery of sin and evil. He died on the cross to give us freedom. Thank you Jesus!
