AKOKO-EDO PEOPLE DECIDE: A REFERENDUM FOR DR. ADETUTU OWOLABI AS THE NEXT HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES MEMBER, AKOKO-EDO FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY

What happened today in Akoko-Edo Federal Constituency was far beyond an ordinary primary election. It was a loud, clear, and undeniable referendum by the people in overwhelming support of the aspiration of Dr. Adetutu Owolabi to become the next member representing Akoko-Edo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

Across wards, communities, and among party faithful, one message resonated strongly, the people are ready for purposeful leadership, inclusive representation, and a new era of progress. The massive support demonstrated today reflects the confidence the people have in Dr. Adetutu Owolabi’s competence, integrity, accessibility, and unwavering commitment to the development of Akoko-Edo.

A CALL TO ELEVATE THE HUMBLE CHILD OVER THE PRODIGAL CHILD.

We the people of Akoko EDO and Okpameri in particular has come to say no over the marginalization of the humble, prudent, and the steadfast.

It's so obvious that Hon. Bankole Oladele Bankole is a man who is not politically stable in every political dispensation, this is what our distinguish Senator Adams Oshiomole describe to be a political rolling stone without destination and purpose of identity as against Dr. Adetutu OWOLABI who would have bag level 14th or 15th grade equivalent to assistant director if it were to be in Nigeria civil service.

Upon this background, the Okpameri nation have come to a general submission that Dr. Adetutu OWOLABI as a consolidtary candidate for the 2027 14th national assembly and house of representative Akoko Edo federal constituency to be precise.

Good name they said is much more better than riches, today in schools from primary to tertiary institutions the prodigal son is now a learning point as well as a turning point for learners, So we can see the practical demonstration in the political career of the former vice president of Nigeria Atiku Abubakar and his perpetual losing because of his instability as a party man, owing to the facts that the EDO State party Chairman Emperor Jarrett Tenebe once appear on TV to tell the whole world that the party will not grant ticket to a perpetual loser who has never win election.

More so, in continuity of massive support by the people of Akoko EDO LGA who secured 23,000 votes and above for the best governor ever seen in EDO State distinguish Senator Monday Okpebholo and in fulfilment of his 2.5 million votes for president Bola Amend Tinubu, The Okpameri people are saying reward us for our consistency, humbleness, patience and support for the existence of our great party APC by giving us Dr. Adetutu OWOLABI for house of representatives.

The attention of the entire Okpameri Nation has been drawn to the recent claims and political propaganda suggesting that the people of Akoko-Edo and Okpameri nation have endorsed Mr. Bankole Oladele Balogun to represent Akoko-Edo Federal Constituency at the National Assembly.

We wish to categorically state that such endorsement does not represent the collective interest, decision, or position of the Okpameri people. The purported endorsement was carried out by a few individuals acting in their personal capacities without consultation with traditional leaders, youth groups, women organizations, political stakeholders, and the wider Okpameri community.

Okpameri Nation remains committed to justice, equity, fairness, and inclusive representation in the political affairs of Akoko-Edo Federal Constituency. Our people strongly believe that leadership must emerge through transparent democratic processes, grassroots consultations, and credible engagement with the electorate and not through unilateral declarations or politically motivated endorsements designed to mislead the public. Okpameri nation can never be in support of such decisions.

We therefore disassociate ourselves completely from any endorsement of Mr. Bankole Oladele Balogun being circulated in the media or public domain as the position of Okpameri Nation because is Okpameri nation turn to produce the next national Assembly member to present Akoko-Edo Federal Constituency.

The good people of Okpameri reserve the right to make independent political choices based on competence, credibility, capacity, and commitment to the development of Akoko-Edo Federal Constituency. No individual or group should attempt to impose candidates on our people under false pretenses.

We call on political actors and stakeholders to respect the unity, integrity, and collective voice of the Okpameri people and desist from using our name to advance personal political interests.

*THE PEOPLE OF AKOKO-EDO REJECTS LAWRENCE OkAH BID TO IMPOSE OLADELE BALOGUN BANKOLE ON THE GOOD PEOPLE OF AKOKO-EDO FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY.*

*Akoko Edo*: Stakeholders and loyalists of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area have rejected what they describe as an attempt by Edo APC State Secretary, Lawrence Okah, to impose Oladele Bankole-Balogun on the people ahead of party primaries.

The rejection comes amid growing concerns within the Akoko Edo APC over alleged imposition and marginalization of Akoko Edo North after 16 years house of Reps in the Akoko Edo south Constituency and old loyal members who has over the years finance and support the party. Concerned party members argue that such moves undermine internal democracy and threaten the party’s unity and electoral chances in 2027.

Why Akoko-Edo is pushing back
Akoko-Edo APC members contend that the local government, which delivered significant votes for Governor Monday Okpebholo in the last election, deserves fair representation and a say in who represents them. They warn that imposing candidates without due process risks repeating the mistakes that led to APC’s defeat in Edo in 2020.

Groups within the party have called on Governor Monday Okpebholo, as leader of the APC in Edo State, to restrain appointees and aides from intimidating aspirants and to allow a free and fair primary process.

Despite this, local stakeholders insist that candidate selection must reflect the will of the people and not to be dictated by external interests or party officials.

The stakes for APC
Party loyalists warn that continued attempts at imposition could deepen divisions within Edo APC and weaken its standing ahead of future elections. They stress that the party must prioritize fairness, inclusivity, and internal democracy to retain the confidence of its base in Akoko-Edo and across Edo State.

As a member to represent Akoko-Edo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, the primary responsibility is to effectively represent the interests, aspirations, and development of the constituency in the Green Chamber. True representation goes beyond lawmaking; it involves giving voice to the concerns of the people, attracting opportunities, and advancing the collective progress of Akoko-Edo sons and daughters.

At this crucial moment, Akoko-Edo cannot afford passive representation or leadership driven by personal ambition and self-aggrandizement. What we need is purposeful, people-oriented, and energetic leadership that will truly serve the people.
